Does anyone know anything about the provosts list. What gpa is required, is membership in the honors group required. thanks for any explanation you can provide.

please correct me if i’m wrong but i read somewhere that it was 3.7 for 12 units…something a little bit lower for more units. you don’t have to be in the honors program to get this distinction.

Oh I found it:

Is provosts list the highest you could go? What are other distinctions?

Well Provost’s is the one you can earn per quarter…the others are latin honors which are based on cumulative gpa

so a “pass” from a P/NP class won’t affect your provost honor eligibility, right?

assuming one doesn’t receive a “no pass” or an “incomplete,” you need the following to get provost’s honor:
- a 3.75 with at least 12 units or
- a 3.66 with at least 55 grade points (a minimum of getting straight A’s with 14 units)

so who made the cut?

well i think i have a 3.8 gpa.

Good job you guys :]

There are many distinctions one can have while at UCLA. During the quarter, there are both the Provost’s List and the Dean’s List.

At time of graduation, some honors are:

College Honors

Latin Honors

Departmental Honors

Phi Beta Kappa

what’s the difference between the provost’s list and the dean’s list?

i thought the C of L&S awards students provost’s list while the other colleges award the dean’s list…aren’t they essentially the same distinction?

I think that I read the same site. Can’t seem to find it again though…

An outdated site dating to the late 1990’s with reference to a certain Provost’s name and the honors available for College of Letters & Science students with orange and white borders? Perhaps.
