say I am a prospective student transferring to UCLA from a C.C to hopefully become a doctor, what major should I choose to start me on that path and what would be the requirements to be accepted? i.e gpa, ec’s and sat’s, although I heard that as a transfer student, UCLA doesn’t look at SAT’s and instead solely focuses on your GPA. Any help would be appreciated!

Well, you can apply to med school with ANY major not just science majors so pick what you like. You do have to complete the pre-requisite courses required by each med school so a lot of people tend to pick a science major (hitting 2 birds with one stone I suppose). UC’s do not look at SAT’s for transfer students. The average GPA for a transfer student depends on the major, impacted majors will have a higher overall GPA than a non impacted one. Think engineering vs. african languages. Generally you should have a 3.5 to be competitive at UCLA for any majors and higher for impacted ones.
