I have been reading the threads on this board, and everyone keeps saying how hard it is to transfer to UCLA if you are out of state.

44 credits
3.57 GPA at a CC in the Midwest
URM

I believe that I can raise my GPA up to 3.7ish pretty easily. If I were to attend UCLA I would be interested in the Chinese program, Asian Humanities, or possibly comparative literature. Would I have a realistic chance of being admitted?

All of your majors have a high acceptance rate with a relatively low number of applicants. Being OOS though, I’m not too sure about your chances. In any case, you should write a superb essay if and when you apply expressing how you want to be in UCLA. This will probablly help more than anything, since you have an acceptable GPA for your intended majors.

yeah i know, but i meant in general lol Actually, it probably does. Because i have never heard of a hispanic or black interested in azn studies. C’mon now, we would probably be interested in our own race.

Um mojojojo69, I am not asian. My mother is russian german and my father is Irish, african amarican, and native american. I am just interested in asian culture. Oh, and I am a girl.

citan, lol! thats where i was going with the conversation. Shes not full out African-American, Hispanic, or native american. Shes like 10% of each

Im sorry but 10% black isnt a URM…cuz then everyone can claim to be a URM, since everyone is a % of everything!

OK I was wondering that about the OP as well…I thought you had to be at least half to be considered a URM. Except for Native American I think that is like 1/34 or something.

blah blah blah WHO CARES. Honestly, if you got it flaunt it. ABUSE that crap because if you don’t, somebody will. but then again UCLA doesn’t take AA into account so it doesn’t matter.
