UCLA Regents Scholarship Notification

I received notification through MyUCLA that I was awarded Regents. I’m sorry for those that didn’t and congratulations to UCLAGlobal. My fin. aid is a full ride and I’d be studying Communication Studies if I go, so this is a much blessed wrench into my plans of going to at least Cornell.

At the end of the day, I don’t feel like I deserve any award I receive, I’m just happy that I made my family happy. I’m actually typing this in the school’s speech lab across from where my girlfriend works and her face got all red when I surprised her. No one gets more red than Asian girls. LOL.

@howardyan2 If you’re asking if I got the notification that I didn’t get the Regents scholarship, yes.

Congratulations, eyethink! I don’t know how it’s possible for you not to deserve the scholarship.

Congratulations, eyethink! That’s amazing. :D

Where on myUCLA did you see that you were awarded Regents? As consoling as the whole “you’ll-receive-in-a-letter-regarding-Regents-in-the-mail” statement from the Financial Aid Office lady was, I’m getting extremely anxious and can’t wait for the letter. ><

I wonder why some people have not been notified of either being rejected or not through MyUCLA? I would like to just know already… Congrats eyethink!!! :)

@BCP: The reason I don’t ever feel like I deserve something is because I equate deserving something to entitlement.

We’re just blessed to be here and everything else is the cherry on top. One need only read Guns, Germs, and Steel to understand that we just got lucky. We could have been born in Misrata and currently getting shelled by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces.

Heck, if you know anything about String Theory, there may be another eyethink in another dimension who’s stricken with cancer.

So if I start to feel like I deserve things, I feel like the purity of my academic struggle and my life in general will have been besmirched.

That’s just me though. ;-)

Thank you.

It should be listed on there.

eyethink, can you show a screenshot>?

^I would except I would have no idea how to do that on CC. I hate how the message board doesn’t allow us access to the tools.

Ugh, I logged into MyUCLA, >>>Features >>> Financial, but my only two choices are: “Bruin Card Balance” and “Bruin Card Deposit,” not “Financial Aid Status.” Any suggestions?

^Sorry. This process is just as new to me as anyone else.

I got the Regent’s scholarship as well. That, along with the great Business Economics program at UCLA is a very tempting offer to say the least. But I’m not convinced that it is better than my other option.

I feel pretty damn special to have won the Scholarship though. Its amazing. A full ride.

@Billionaire: You applied to Cornell too right?

Yeah. Got in for Policy Analysis & Management.

^Oh that’s right. I got the personal call from the Associate Dean of Admissions from ILR. I’m really proud of that acceptance so I’m not sure what to do. The only negative to Cornell would be the debt. But considering they are my #1B, I may even be willing to take that on.

When do you see yourself making the decision? I have to let Cornell know by May 4th.
