My aid is terrible, I get a little over 7k in some weird 1 year non-renewable scholarship. Money for insurance (if I don’t get insurance, its taken away), and 2k in work study. My FAFSA EFC is just a little over 11k. But I don’t have money for housing, and I live in OC. The vanpool leaves at 5am and comes back at 3pm. So, I can’t do workstudy, and I can’t stay late to study…

Did you apply to Berkeley? I got in, but just for Spring

Is finishing pre-reqs a major contributing factor to being admitted or not? And when I mean finish pre-reqs I mean finish them before applying during the fall.

@mikeT92 I was wondering the same thing… I do have Cal Grant available on my financial aid, but I don’t know if the blue and gold opportunity plan is included or if that will show up later? I feel like it’s already included, but there’s really no indication of it…

@p1inkbubbles Cal grant is Blue & Gold. Blue & Gold only takes effect if you don’t receive a Cal Grant and your family makes under the income threshold.

@Econ/Accounting which is mine for example. I will have pre-reqs done by Spring before transferring, but I won’t have it done before applying this September.

@dmsgml7832 yup!!! MCDBio way to go. Now are you excited or scared? I am a mixture of 2 cuz i heard UCLA’s MCDB program is super hard. Actually I am worried. What do you think?

^It’s hard but the faculty is really impressive. I switched out after a quarter. If it’s your passion, it might be more enjoyable. It was interesting at first but much too focused for my taste.

Does anyone know what the generic conditions even means?
I know that we can’t get Cs to stay in the safe zone, but it also says that I need to keep a gpa that is consistant with the rest of my grades. Ive been getting like As and A-s so what would happen if I ended up with like a 3.3 (2 Bs, 1 A, and another A in a lab) or something? Would I get rescinded?

Reflection
Strengths: Personal statement, extracurriculars, and unimpacted major.
Weaknesses: low GPA
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Having a major that is not very competitive is the biggest reason. I’m not dumb enough to say that I am more deserving than others who were rejected. Having an unimpacted major is the main reason I got accepted.

General Comments:
I applied to UCLA four times. I was rejected out of high school, then again in 2011 and 2012 out of community college. I could have easily chosen to go somewhere else, but UCLA is the ONLY school I ever dreamed of going to. If you want it bad enough, never give up on the dream! Congrats to everyone who got in and I’m sorry to everyone that didn’t. I know what it feels like.

You can, but I suggest you do it at orientation. They will do it for you right then and there. In most cases you can only switch into a major within the life sciences (e.g. Biology, MIMG, Physiological Science, ect). I mean if you have all the pre-reqs for something similar, like Anthro, you MIGHT be able to switch into that. If you want to wait to see if MCDB will work out, you can switch after you finish a quarter at UCLA. If you get any D’s/F’s in a LS core curriculum course (LS, Physics, Chem, ect), you can’t change. It’s unlikely to switch into Psychobiology though…cause they have this weird unit limit system. Other than that, there are no real restriction.
