Ocean have you heard of anyone switching INTO an impacted major that is not named econ?

lol @ the person who got a 4.0 with no job/EC.

@oceanpartier

Thx. What major did you switched to? What was the reason you switched? do you mind sharing? Because I am planning to apply for pharmacy school, so i want the best gpa possible. any insider tips?? lol. this is more stressful than waiting for the decision to come out. I am so torn between UCSD and UCLA. they both are great schools, but i thought SD has a somewhat easier molecular bio major.

@ HeatZz,

I believe you cannot switch into an impacted major at all. There may be cases but I don’t know about them. Sorry =/ In the above case, mermeid was accepted into an impacted major (all the Life Sciences are “impacted”) and is therefore be able to switch within the department. Switching into Engineering, Nursing, or Art is basically an impossibility.

BTW congrats on your admission! One year intercampus is definitely something to be proud of! You should definitely dorm for the best experience (I kind of regret not doing that now)!

@ mermeid,

I switched into Biology. I was enrolled in one MCDB course my first quarter. While it was very interesting and I got an A, it was exhausting. The material was so detailed, and I feel like I would rather study a more general topic. I loved the professor, all the TA’s it just wasn’t for me (btw the TA’s in this department are AMAZING). Another reason was that the major is really research focused. I don’t want to do research at all but it might be helpful for medical school or something. Lastly, some of my credits didn’t transfer correctly from UCI. I had to do an extra math course and an extra basic bio course and the lab -___- Because of this, I would end up starting Physics late (knowing I have a weakness in math) and I didn’t want to do physics with super difficult MCDB courses. It’s not that Biology isn’t hard (I’m flopping here LOL) it’s just MCDB is way intense. I’ve been here for two quarters now and my GPA has already dropped from a 3.91–> 3.82. If I were applying for pre-med/pre-pharm/pre-dent or something, I’d be kinda worried. But if it’s your passion, I’d go for it. It wasn’t my passion.

Accepted!
3.93 Psychology
My twin sister got in too! :)

Accepted!
Chemistry major with 3.28
Both tricks worked…
Now I’m worried because I’m getting A’s in Ochem2, engineering physics and history, but I might get a C in math class… It’s a major preparatory course… :’(
Will I really get rescinded? Aw…

Accepted, 3.91 History

All 3 of the tricks worked

I’m pretty happy right now

I don’t know the aid on both suck, plus I was admitted as a Spring Transfer for CAL. The thread became a wasteland, everybody finally went to bed after a week!

Oh I see, yeah I won’t be getting any aid for either of them, that’s alright, I already expected I’d be footing it myself(loans and working). And yeah I can see that, some well earned rest though huh
