Parting words:
Last year I only applied to UCI and they laughed me out of admissions. After one final academic renewal and more classes, UCI had to take me this year because I TAGGED! The best thing that ever happened to me was the UCI rejection! I would not have received aid (average grades). I applied for academic renewal last fall, and got in to every UC I applied to, and even got 2 full rides. Sometimes, you have to be thankful that you were rejected. Keep your eye on the ball, don’t pay attention to what anybody says.

^Congratz! Looks like the extra year was worth it!

@ucdrone how long had you already been at a CC?

Does anyone know if UCLA have an open house event specifically for transfer students?

@ ineedadegree

I’ve been there for years, off and on! I earned my first AA in just under 2 years. Afterward, I took like a 2 year break, and when I returned, I only went part-time.

From the time I started, until today it’s been 6 years. But I’ve earned 2 degrees, and I’m one class away from earning another 2. I have under 65 units. My first degree–is a vocational degree, and those units don’t count (21 total). Plus, I had to start at the bottom–like Algebra 1!

@ aztecstudent

Thank you so much! Yes, at first I felt terrible, but I didn’t have as many units as I thought, and my GPA was to high enough to TAG!

Rejected
GPA: ~3.1
major: Biology

I don’t really mind. I am happy with Santa Cruz. Less smog and it’s a little prettier :p. I do find it funny how things panned out. I can kind of see how UCLA gets some of its stereotypes. My friends from high school who got in as transfers were really (almost excessively) competitive about everything. I’m glad they got in though. Now I won’t have to constantly battle with their egos xD

Did anyone else receive an email from the anthropology department from UCLA?
0_o

I did too.

^ Yes. I did.
