I have been a longtime browser on CC so today I finally decided to make an account. I just finished summer A sesh and lived on campus so I thought since I had some free time I would answer any questions regarding UCLA. Over the summer I got to know and love the campus a lot so feel free to ask anything :)

How where classes compared to cc? Does the size make the professor less approachable? Did your study habits change? And are there many places to study around campus thatare not crowded?

I took Econ 41 & Econ 11. I enjoyed them to an extent but both classes were really competitive so it was stressful at times. And yes I made a lot of friends, mostly with other people who were on my floor or living on campus though.

The classes were larger and the students were smarter. I wouldn’t say that the exams were significantly more difficult compared to at a cc but the curve is. In cc the curve was your friend but not so much at UCLA. Both of my professors seemed very approachable whether it was after class or during office hours. My study habits pretty much stayed the same but then again I scored at the mean/median on my midterms so I definitely studied harder for finals. And lastly, yes there are tons of places to study whether it be Powell (the library), Kerkhoff hall, lounges in the residence halls and etc.

How’d you end up doing grade wise (if you don’t mind)? I was going to take those classes as well over the summer but didn’t end up doing so. How was McDevitt?

@CSB111 I scored at the mean on the midterm (a B, which is pretty high for an econ class) for econ 11 and I scored in the top 25% for Econ 41. I have not gotten my final grades yet but I am expecting a B or B+ in Econ 11 and an A or A- in 41. He was pretty good (but went pretty quick, but it was a week class), I had trouble staying awake in class but he is a nice older guy.
