UCLA, VANDERBILT, HARVEY MUDD

I’m a senior at the moment and just wanted to know what my chances to get into UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Harvey Mudd for a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Psychology with my resume. What are my chances when the university looks at me as a whole and not just for my academics?
GPA: 3.78
SAT: 1710
English: 520
Math: 650
Writing: 620
Extracurriculars: dance for 13 years, vocal for 7 years, viola for 7 years, vena for 7 years
activities: I am the president of our school’s key club and orchestra. I have performed in various countries, and have a few publications on my talents. I have also gone on a few mission trips, along with other out of the country volunteering programs

I currently go to Vandy. I do have to say that your GPA and SAT are lower than most students here. Vanderbilt’s population has REALLY stepped it up, and it’s becoming very elite if it hasn’t already been. However, I do believe your extracurriculars are significant factors that could help you. Make sure you present the publications on your application. While you show great talents, I do have to say that your volunteering is good, but it lacks influence in YOUR community, which is something that colleges like to see because it shows a direct influence from YOU to where you come from. However, if you do explain why you did those service trips, and why it meant so much to you, you will be fine! Finally, it is always beneficial and encouraged that you be in honor societies or show leadership in things that are specifically related to what you want to study. For example, I was the secretary of my high school’s science and IB clubs, and that helped me really solidify that I wanted to study medicine and biology in college.

You have a shot, nonetheless. It really comes down to selling yourself to the admissions committee. Really brag about your accomplishments, and REFLECT ON THEM. Good luck!
