UCLA vs. UCSD vs. McGill for IR

I’ve been accepted to UCLA, UCSD (Roosevelt), and McGill and I’ve visited each of them and really like them all, though I remember UCSD feeling more “homey”, UCLA felt more like you’re on your own, and McGill really felt like you’re on your own.

What I don’t know about as much are their undergrad programs in IR— how good is their quality? How well does it prepare you for graduate studies? Was your overall experience good?

Either way, I’m asking in regard to the IR program itself, but I also want to know how your experience was as a college student in general from the social aspect as well.

I have no idea what IR is, but I can tell you my experience at UCSD. It definitely does feel very homey for me, and I love it. ERC is a great residential college. People say that UCSD is socially dead - not true. There are many clubs and orgs on campus, and it’s so easy to make friends on campus.

At McGill you will be on your own to create an experience that you desire. For an international relations major a "homey’ environment may not be a good motivator to broaden your horizons.
