My dream school is UCLA. I’ve worked hard to establish myself as a viable applicant. I just don’t know if they’ll take me, as UCLA is one of the most competitive public schools in the country.
So, here’s my stats. For any of you who would know, do I have a good chance of getting in?
I’m currently a Junior. Portuguese, Irish, Scottish, Cherokee, and Seminole ancestry. My GPA average per the state of California’s admissions system is a little above 4.1. I’m out of state, living in Georgia. Per California law, since my mother became disabled serving in the military in the Bosnian Crisis, my tuition would be waived. My SAT is 1950 cumulative: 700 Reading, 550 Math, 700 Writing. I am omitting my ACT scores as I’ve never performed well on that test, but if I took it right now I would make around a 26.
I am the head delegate of my school’s Model UN team. I’ve won four outstanding delegation awards. I am a member of NHS. I was my school’s nominee for Governor’s Honors. I am a two-going-on-three year class rep on the Service Council. I’m a regular writer on my school’s newspaper. I’ve also written and directed two short films. I’ve played varsity tennis for two years, and I organized our school’s blood drive this year and will do so next year.
I’ve taken Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Precalculus, and intend on taking regulars Calculus next year. I’ve also taken Honors Chemistry. I’ve taken AP World History, AP English Lang and Comp, APUSH, and a college course on Chinese Communist History, which holds the same weight as an AP course in GPA calculation. I intend on taking AP Literature, AP Comparative Government, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Human Geography next year.
Will this be enough?
