UCLA Will Sell the Beloved Hannah Carter Japanese Garden, But Will USC Purchase It?

A heated legal battle that’s dragged on for nearly five years between UCLA and the family of Hannah Carter over the fantastic Hannah Carter Japanese Garden in Bel Air has finally reached a settlement. Under the deal, the school—which was fighting for the right to sell the garden and a house that shares the property—will get to do just that, but the future owner of the house must agree to preserve the garden for at least 30 years, reports the LA Times.

The garden is located within the Bel Air neighborhood and I could only see two institutions having interest. 1) USC and 2) Huntington Library. I don’t see the Huntington being interested, because they already have a massive Japanese garden onsite. Therefore, I think USC will be the likely buyer.

Thoughts?

Why would USC buy it?

Frggin garden? USC should spend its money elsewhere, as in the Coliseum.
