Hey, I’m a sophomore and I’m freaking out about college. You know, just one of those things. As I am a sophomore I haven’t done the SAT or ACT yet. Disregarding that information, please look at the stats I can offer so far… Am I doing okay? Do you guys have any advice? I know I’m still too young to be worrying about these things but it can’t be helped, haha. Thank you.

Try going to the “Colleges and Universities” site; then “C” for University of California for general posts or for specific UC’s: UC Riverside, UCLA, UC Berkeley, etc.

From my cursory review of what you listed above, it looks like you are on the right track in terms of courses, weighted GPA (for UCB; UCLA) and EC’s. For UCB and UCLA, concentrate on getting at least a 2050 to 2100 SAT score; UCSD and UCD about 2000 SAT score; UCI, UCSB around 1900 to 2000+, and the other UC’s, probably around 1750+. The GPA can be lower for the lower tier UC’s, but at least get a 3.6+ to have a better chance, especially if you have a higher SAT score. The UC’s take a “holistic” approach in reviewing applicants and they look at the GPA, SAT/ACT, EC’s and the essay as a whole in your application. Go to the UC website or google to get an idea of the various GPAs and/or SAT scores and the percentage of acceptance to a particular UC.

You can use this link to find the Freshman Class profiles for each campus to give you an idea of the Stats to shoot for by the end of Junior year:

Thanks for the above link.

I forgot to mention that beginning March 2016, the SAT scoring will go from the 2400 scoring format to a 1600 scoring format. A 2100 under the current format is 1400 in the new format beginning in March 2016. This new format will be effective by the time you are a junior. There are juniors who take the SAT early prior to their senior year. Also, you might want to evaluated whether you want to take the ACT in lieu of the SAT or take both and submit either the SAT or ACT.

Thank you! This made me feel a lot better.
