UCR Business vs. UCSD Econ

Hey guys. I currently attend UC Riverside as a Business Admin major, and got in for UCSD Fall 2010, but I can't make a decision if I should transfer or not. UCSD's closest thing to business is managerial science, which is supposed to be bizecon, but really looks like a lot of econ + math.

I really do want to go to a better school, but it is worth changing my major? I'm on track at UCR and can graduate early, but will an econ degree look better than a business one from UCR, even if I want to pursue business in the future?

Also post your question on the Search & Selection forum, it gets more traffic and your question concerns the schools and majors rather than transferring per se. You might also want to post on the Business Major subforum.

If I were you, I'd stick with UCR's Business program--given that business IS your choice of major. I have friends at UCSD who are taking managerial science, but that is nowhere close to business economics and business. From what I've been told, MS is economics on steroids: more math courses, one financial accounting requirement, and more core requirements. There aren't any business courses offered; however, you can take elective classes at the Rady School of Management as a junior or senior.

Weigh everything out. At UCR, you will (or are) studying your desired field of interest, while at UCSD, the job recruitment rate and alumni network is stronger--regardless of major.

I hope this helps a little.
