UCSB Acceptance

what do you guys know about the chances of students getting in who don’t go to a california CC but another 4 year university? (for example, I got to the university of washington)
-completed all prereqs for major
-cumm. GPA 3.76
pre-psych

@huskypride

haha, if you have “husky pride” then why are you trying to transfer?

haha, had to come up with a name on the spot. wearin my UW shorts so thought i’d represent. trying to transfer cause i’m paying out of state tuition…not fun

^

Golden Retrievers are better.

not gonna take sides there, they’re both awesome dawgs.

can we get back to my original question though? any input?

^Based on what ive SEEN, it appears that people who are trying to transfer from university to university usually have a harder time transferring. For example, a person from CC might get into UCLA with a 3.6 GPA whereas a person (with the same major) who goes to UCR with a 3.8 GPA might get rejected. But if you have a 3.7 or greater, im pretty sure youll get into ucsb.

that’s what i’ve heard as well. I guess the UC’s are really set against admitting transfer students (despite good academic standing) who are already enrolled in 4 year universities. I guess I’ll wait and see…
I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with someone or knows someone who shares a similar situation to mine and has advice/input

If you look @ the transfer statistics to UC’s, UCLA, for example, accepts about 90% of its transfer students from CCC.

Anyone hear back today?

I haven’t heard anything today. I have a 3.01 GPA and I applied as a business major. I don’t have tag.

Any of you admitted people have a financial aid award letter up yet?

FRIGGIN’ UCSB.

Why does it torment me so? At least Irvine and SD have accepted me.

Still, I hate seeing “Decision Pending” every time I log in. So…is it by batch, or have people been getting accepted on a daily basis?

I got everything but 9,000 dollars covered by UCSB.

@Indie - when you click your unofficial award it says that?

I just logged in and saw that I was rejected. I haven’t checked for couple of days, so I am not sure when they posted it.

I have a 3.88 GPA, applied for mechanical engineering, hehe, sad. I know that my GPA is not all that fabulous, but it ain’t that lousy either. So I see that they are only admitting 4.0 now, uh?

The message says:

We appreciate your interest in the University of California, Santa Barbara. Your application has been carefully reviewed by both the Office of Admissions and the . Unfortunately, we cannot offer you admission to UC Santa Barbara. Enrollment limitations resulted in a competitive and selective admission environment. Therefore, we have had to adopt standards that are more selective than the University of California’s minimum requirements.

You have our best wishes as you pursue your educational goals.

Sincerely,

Christine N. Van Gieson
Director of Admissions

Nice try D-O-U-C-H-E. You wrote that you were rejected to Aerospace Engineering and then edited it later to Mechanical. UCSB doesn’t even offer Aerospace but I guess you realized your mistake -__-

That was mean :(

^^■■■■■ fail

Anyone else get financial aid awarded?

No, since i applied aero at most UCs, that’s why I made a mistake. I cannot believe it myself either…I thought UCSB is a less competitive school, I just cannot believe it myself…
