UCSB Acceptance

still no word for my boyfriend :frowning:

He’s a
3.4 GPA
Major:Econ/accounting
ICETC Certified
TAG

We’ve called a couple times and can’t get a straight answer on anything…The last call said that you can’t “TAG” for ANY econ majors because the application goes through the econ department first and then goes to admissions for the final decision. but apparently the econ department can deny you, even if your TAGGED. But does that make sense? because i thought if you were TAGged you are GUARANTEED admission into the school, even if you can’t get into your major.

i hate college. i really want to be done with it. UCSB is our dream school and pretty much the only one we can go to together :frowning: it will be the happiest day of my life if we both get in.

any econ majors out there that still haven’t heard? the lady said that a bunch of econ and econ related majors were calling because they haven’t heard yet.

I’m Mechanical Engineering and my decision is still pending. I have two missing prereqs and this late in without hearing anything, I think my chances are pretty slim. Especially since UCSB is really strict on their prereq requirements, even more so for engineering majors.

I haven’t read the entire thread, but have they sent out any rejections?

I only saw a couple of people get rejected and 1 was a GPA under 3.0 and the other was an out of state transfer.

they have rejected some. im losing hope as well, econ major

still haven’t heard!!!
econ major
IGETC
TAG (except what is this about econ majors not being able to TAG?)
all prereqs done by this spring
i think my UC GPA is like a 3.7, but I’ve attended two 4-yr schools so it’s difficult to determine
accepted to UCSC and UCD

are a lot of econ/related majors still waiting? it’s pretty much been a month since they started posting decisions!

@redheadx, econ is an impacted major, you can TAG into the school but not into majors. The counselor i spoke to just said you should have an ALTERNATE major that is not as impacted to back it up.

I am an econ major as well, still waiting

Admitted!

Major: Pre-Financial Mathematics and Statistics
GPA: 3.43
IGETC: No
TAG: Yes

Waiting on Berkeley… :(

Holy crap im sick of waiting…

major: pre geologic sciences
GPA: overall-3.1, uc-3.2
Igetc: all but 1 class
Tag: none
Pre reqs, missing all but 1

@ p4pfighter

sorry, i would have replied earlier but there was an epic Sharks game on last night LOL.

but i know right?! every time i look at the UCSD thread hoping for something I get crushed. haha i have no patience. and i don’t have tag for any UC, i was too lazy to get it done. =/

Sick and tired of waiting! come on ucsb!!
Communication major
GPA 3.2
IGETC by end of spring
No TAG :/

Looks like http://admissions.ucsb.edu, including the decision site, is down.

[http://admissions.ucsb.edu Is Down -> Check if your website is up or down?](<a href=“Admissions.ucsb.edu down? Current problems and status.”>Admissions.ucsb.edu down? Current problems and status.)

alexajam, do you know what the out of stater’s stats were? just curious. i applied to sb as well as davis, irvine, la and berkeley. no word so far, only accepted at riverside. i’m sick of waiting, even a rejection would be a relief at this point, you know…

by the way, for any who know, how bad is it if you’re doing prerequisites for your spring semester? i’m out of state so spring semester is ongoing. i got a 3.56 gpa but that doesn’t incl. the 2 math and 2 science i’m currently in. technically i think i read that you can but they probably aren’t likely to assume the best. it was a mistake on my part, i didn’t really care where i went till around 4 months ago, i should’ve taken those classes last summer :(( still i did take micro and macroeconomics in the summer, plus 2 other courses so maybe that’ll at least them know that i’m taking full loads…yeah, i’m pretty sick of this waiting game.

@spacebaklava- I want to say they had a 4.0, but now that I seriously think about it I think they were rejected from UCSD. They sounded iffy though, as if they didn’t know what they were doing, which means they couldn’t completely missed minimum requirements.

Also, I’m taking 2 math and a higher level spanish class right now over Spring semester and I got accepted with a 3.6, no TAG, pre-sociology major. I also told them I was going to take Philosophy 6 over Summer. I have a pretty good story and a lot of ECs with at-risk youth, underprivileged communities. So DON’T TRIP. I think you will be just fine, but I get it- waiting sucks. UCSB is the only one I’ve heard from. I wish you the best of luck!!!

damn man, what’re you doing logged in if you’ve already been accepted :)) i’ve been checking this site literally everyday for the past 2 weeks to get an idea of when acceptances get sent out and i was thinking "will i ever be on here again if i get in (or not)

anyways, i obviously have no tag but on the upside i’ve got a second language (native) and experience working in a foreign country. that’s basically what i focused on for my essay questions. congrats on your acceptance, like you say waiting sucks, especially when you are actively waiting, i.e. checking status everyday…whatever, there’s always umass i guess :))

:(((

I’m still waiting on UCLA, UCSD & Cal!!! I was super bumming because I wanted to hear from UCSD yet, but after doing all the research I found I would probably be happier at UCSB. Just go and research all the GOOD things about UCR. It got me super grateful to be accepted into any UC and TEMPORARILY has eased my mind.

I still check it because 1. I am obsessive and 2. You NEVER know what info someone will share that could help you out.

I will probably be checking this until the day my transcripts are sent/accepted, my kids are accepted in daycare, I have family housing, and I’m in my first class taking notes. Then I will delete it from my cache and never look back…UNTIL law school. Hahaha.

blehhh why is it down :/

UCSB’s whole site is down. I tried to go to another part that has nothing to do with application statuses and it won’t load.

I thought it was just admissions… I’m able to browse the rest of the website.

yo alex here’s my research for ucr:

bad: noone prefers it hence no topic for “ucr acceptance” :)

good: my mother’s friend’s husband went here and he currently works at MIT. so it’s not like ucr sets you out on a path for failure, it’s what you do with it. but we all already knew that, right?

BUT, unless you’re aim is to simply get the heck out of massachusetts, i’m not sure how much sense it makes to go to riverside. umass amherst and riverside are “rated” really close. on the other hand, although i’ll have to pay out of state the first year, riverside gave me a sweet financial aid package. if there’s no adjustment for out of staters and they give me the same deal next year i’ll basically be going to school for free. so that’s a plus. mind you the out of state is still going to cost me a pretty penny the first year.

peace
