In my essay I want to talk about my low gpa as a result of my parents fighting every night. I showed TREMENDOUS improvement in my gpa 2nd semester junior year (4.0).

Well it is good that you have shown improvement junior year because UC’s really only care about your sophomore and junior years as far as GPA is concerned. However, your UC GPA is low, and depending on what you want to major in, the math 1 subject test means nothing. Most schools, and UC’s especially, want to see the math level 2 subject test. I find it kind of awkward that you took the ACT with a bunch of SAT subject tests but that’s up to you… Anyway, I don’t really know where to put you because your GPA is not very consistent with those at UCSB, but your ACT score seems like a match. Overall, he personal statement makes a big impact on the decision. The fact that you already know what you can write about and explain as a hardship that can account for your low GPA hint hint. If they feel like they want you, they will probably either accept you, or they will send you a supplement asking more questions about grades, hardships, social life, etc. If you have any other academic awards that you can think of, list them all on your application (things simply like honor roll, or principals list if schools still do that). I hope I helped :)
