I have a similar question as @Alfmoren, would no email to check the portal be an indication of denial then? (Since I was underneath the impression that all UCs send an email about a portal update)
Very shocked by this. I would expect you’d have far better alternatives than UCSB.
It appears her acceptances provide for way more opportunity than UCSB.

I don’t think an email means much. I was accepted and never received one. Usually they come out hours later but by then most people check their portal.
waitlisted but we’re chilling. I would have preferred a flat out rejection tbh.
my advice to juniors/seniors is to actually take time to write your essays. Do NOT write them in one day thinking that will somehow be enough lol

@islandergirl13 my daughter was accepted more than 8 hours ago but still hasn’t received an email. You need to check your portal to find out if you’re accepted.

Essays: 9-10/10, wrote about my autism, how I worked to overcome it, and how volunteering at that organization impacted both others and myself.
Honestly, I was surprised that I got waitlisted. However, it became clear that a LOT of people from my school that should have gotten in got waitlisted too.
