history of public policy major
I liked my personal statements…

I’m gonna try n appeal

Soooooo, it turns out calling your mom and your boyfriend to say “I finally got into UCSB!!”, letting them congratulate you profusely, and then shouting “April fools!” is not really a great idea… Did I mention my boyfriend lives 10 minutes from UCSB and I live in LA, so he’s been hanging on this admission? Oopsie.

It was funnier in my head.

And sorry to hear your news, Gorbert. :frowning: Good luck with the appeal. I can’t imagine that major is THAT popular, so maybe that will help. I didn’t even know that existed!

Good luck on your appeal.

@kernlsanders

They do evaluate applications for those local community city colleges first, which is SBCC, and then southern california, then northern, then out of state.

Thatz what they told me previousely.

I’m still decision pending but I figure we will find out soon. It took me two weeks to the day to find out if I got accepted to UCSC (rejected). I’m a film and media studies primary major. Pre-communication is my second choice major :)

Hopefully they let us know soon, its so frustrating having to wait for them.

@ allen- huh? I was just talking about my April fools joke. My bf doesn’t go to SBCC. Neither do I. He just lives up there and coaches at SBCC. I’m confused.

What I meant was (to spell it out, thereby taking away the humor) that my BF WANTS me to be accepted to UCSB so that I can be near him. So when I told him, but then said, “April Fools!” he got mad at me for getting his hopes up.

Hi guys, I also applied for pre-comm and just got accepted as well (I’m not sure exactly when because I didn’t check the status since last Friday).

Aw, congrats Dango!

congratz, i like how UCSB puts out admissions continuously, while SD holds them back for almost 3 weeks and counting…

Congrats for all the people who got in!

Anybody knows if students completed the IGETC before they go to any UC’s, do they still need to take GE classes, i mean upper-division GE classes!?? (i.e. Writing, science, art )

ideally the UCs want you to be done with your GE classes!

maybe you could take the summer before to get your remaining GEs out of the way, cuz the UCs main goal is for you to graduate as soon as possible.

@janethedoe, yeah. I mean i will have the igetc done by the end of this spring.

What i am asking is, if I have been completed before I go to any UC’s, lets say UCSB, do UCSB still required upper-division GE Classes toward graduation?

no, the only place i know of that does that is San Diego i.e. with their stupid requirements for whatever college you got into.

For Example:
I was accepted to Eleanor Roosevelt College and they require 3 writing/history classes before i can graduate. its called Making of the Modern World.
complete ■■■ sh1t.

but Revelle (i think)
has to do calculus or something.

Oh, so you mean the only uc does required additional GE classes is UCSD, and the rest are just required the completion of the IGETC?

UCSD is the only place i heard of that has this sort of crazyness.

Well yeah i guess they dont require IGETC completion but they recommend it , but thats why they encourage you to look at
assist so you have ur GEs out of the way so you can focus on Upper Division.

Okay, thanx for you advise janethedoe…Good night

nite kid, i hope i sorta answered something…

yea…absolutely. you are really helpful…But i am waiting for the UCSB decision , my decision is still pending…kinda sad right now.
