UCSB Fall 2017 Transfer Thread

Got a physical admissions notice in the mail today.

Thanks for sharing! Had you already been admitted from the portal?

@anthro888888 Yeah, I was admitted on the first day of admission notifications.

Congrats, thanks for answering!

@anthro888888 Thanks! Good luck!

How did the notice look like?

@zsshar yes they did. You have to pass Econ 10a and some other class I believe with a certain grade in order to get into the major once you are there.

Admissions packet spoilers below

@fcb1010 It came in a large envelope that said “CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR UC SANTA BARBARA ADMISSION” with the UCSB seal in the background. Inside was a paper printed with the acceptance message you see on your portal. Next, there was terms of condition of spring semester and comments page. Lastly, there was an informational UCSB pamphlet.

Admitted! GPA 3.9 Pre-Economics and Accounting! Good luck to everyone!

@masechka1988 congratulations!!
did you just check or have you been checking and your status just changed? Wondering if they’re sending out a new batch of decisions

My gpa is pretty low . It’s 3.2. Decision is still
Pending . Should I just give up?

@zsshar Don’t do that! What’s your major?

Statistics @doihaveashot2016. I didn’t even finish any pre red and I am transferring from Texas . What are pre-major admission people talking about ? When I applied I didn’t see any pre statistics option. Except ucla.

Aww I guess the fact that you’re transferring from Texas doesn’t make it too easy for you to know about this stuff.

In Californian city colleges, counselors are always telling us to refer to http://www.assist.org/web-assist/welcome.html for our pre-reqs. On the site, you first select your California community college, and then you choose the university you want to transfer to and your major. In your case, you could click on any city college because even though you didn’t go to cc in California, you can still see the names of the pre-reqs.

I wouldn’t worry too much about not completing them because I had three pre-reqs missing and still got in. (I was accepted into pre-communication, and I didn’t choose that as an option, but I’m guessing that’s because I have pre-reqs missing). I know it’s harder to transfer into UCSB from out of state, but best of luck to you and hope I could help :slight_smile: @zsshar

@doihaveashot2016… does rejection come after acceptance decision?

The process should be random, and they should all come at the same time, but what do I know, I’m just a student! @zsshar Some people on this thread have already been rejected though, so that’s just my guess.

Yes, the process is done through randomly. I spoke with an admissions counselor and she explained to me the process. For those who are still pending, do not worry. It just means that they still haven’t reviewed your application yet. Just be patient and hope for the best of luck!

Hey you guys quick question!

I understand the Transfer admission Update is available until March 30th however I was admitted Tuesday and just realized I have to change one of my late-start planned courses due to schedule conflicts. (IT IS NOT A PRE REQ CLASS NOR IS A IT CLASS REQUIRED FOR MY IGETC) I found another late start course i could fit in. however would i just have to change the information on the Transfer admission update website or should i notify in writing since i have already been admitted

Admitted (within the last hour or so)
Major: Pre-Mathematics
School: Pasadena City College
GPA: 3.95
IGETC: will be complete by the end of spring semester
Major Pre-req: completed except for physics and Discrete Math (UCSB: Math 8 “Transition to Higher Mathematics”). I’m taking both of these courses currently.

@Venus2017 I would contact the admissions department and let them know your concern. I’m sure it can be fixed, but i would make sure to contact them
