@ctehin amen to that.
Does anyone know where they are living yet?!
If you’re not a freshman, I would recommend not living in on campus/university owned housing unless you’re not into partying and want to stay in a calmer/quieter place. Most people live in apartments in IV and the people that choose on campus housing past freshman year are usually the calmer type. The sophomore dorms are the “substance free” dorms if that puts it in perspective. There are some apartments that are close to/basically in IV though, but only San Clemente and I’m not sure what grade level those ones are intended for. You can also find quieter apartments in IV though, but they probably wouldn’t be AS quiet as a university owned apartment. Generally the farther north and the farther east you go in IV, the more calm the area is. Other than on campus, IV is really where the community is because that’s where the majority of students live within a very small area, so I’d recommend living there at least at some point.
@ctehin I chose to live in university owned apartments because I wanted to meet people/friends before moving out to IV. From what I’ve gathered, most transfers seem to want to do the same. From what my friends have said to me who went to UCSB, people living in IV after their freshman year went to UCSB starting their freshman year so they were able to meet their friends they wanted to move out with in the dorms. I think most transfers plan on moving to IV their senior year.
@ccstudent1517 Yeah that is what most transfers do, but unless you have a lot of money and can rent an entire apartment to yourself, you’ll have roommates in IV, especially in houses. There’s like 6 people to a house, some houses even have 12 people. In apartments, you’d probably have 1-2 roommates or maybe more. But, the advantage with university apartments is that you’d probably be meeting other transfers like yourself, which is always good and could be comforting/less overwhelming. Ultimately it’s obviously your decision, and either decision is a good one. Which university apartments are you looking at?
Did anyone else get accepted for winter quarter? I appealed and got a letter saying as long as I stay above a C average in my courses fall I have guaranteed admission to UCSB Winter 2018
