So…I thought I was for sure I was getting rejected. Not only am I missing half the prereqs due to the the major change from psychology to
Psychology and brain sciences, I am doing the second semester of English rn in my spring semester, and I completed my math requirement during this past winter intersession, all of which are a big no no for ucsb. In fact, a few cc student told me a ucsb academic counselor told him they don’t accept students who attempt math after the fall semester in the year before transferring. Obviously, my situation disproves that. I heard that ucsb accepts students who applied to non-impacted majors based off gpa and IGETC completion, and my situation definitely backs that up. Seriously, idk how I got in missing so many prereqs but I’m not complaining obviously! This is just a heads up to anyone applying to this major, cuz I’m sure there are a lot of students in a similar situation due to the major change. If you really wanna study psychology, don’t bother changing it. As long as you have IGETC done and a competitive gpa, you can still get in even missing prereqs (non-capped majors).
@skyinthesky thank you so much for this! I wonder if there’s a difference between the applicants that receive a physical packet first, rather than the portal, and vice versa.

@lovela it is hard to tell if people just don’t check their portals and check their mail more often or if the mail comes first, but it seems like some people were first notified by mail

Admitted! California community college transfer.
Major: pre-mathmatical Sciences(as alternate major. 1st choice was Computer Science)
GPA: 3.23 before TAU, 3.28 after
IGETC: yes
TAG: No
Major requirements: no, linear algebra and diff eq needed.
E/C: 2 years president for german honor society, working on campus roughly 20 hours a week, active CS club member for 2 years, in community college athletics (golf).
Notes: really upward trend. Transfered from a different CCC 3 years after failing out. In 40+ units had a .5 gpa. Enrolled in another CCC and got academic renewal, kinda non traditional(25yo). Also, im transferring with 125 lower division UC transferable units.
Pending: UCSD, UCI, CPP, SLO, UCSC, UCD, USC, CSUF SDSU
Admitted: UCSB
Denied: SJSU(application withdrawn- non accomodated)

I was waitlisted for UCSB today, however, I submitted a TAG and was almost positive that I met the requirements. The message from UCSB made no mention of it. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be going on there? Should I submit an appeal?
