I was wondering if UCSB weights major prep around the same as schools like ucla. I’m honestly pretty surprised I got in with so much major prep not completed.
Also, if I’ve been admitted as pre chem, does that mean I can matriculate into chemical engineering rather than biochem?

My cumulative gpa right now is a 3.1 from sdccd, so I was sooo nervous about getting into any UC’s. If they read the PIQ’s at all then I’m positive those really helped me out.
Anyway! So so soooo happy. We’ll see what happens with the rest of the decision and maybe I’ll see some of you this fall!

@Catsandphysics I would not worry too much about it, it is just rolling admissions. My best friend got rejected in the first batch, and I got accepted in the second, and it seems that from the thread that each batch has had acceptances/rejections/waitlist so I would not worry too much. It is such a bummer for those who still have to wait

@Skepta Call admissions and ask them. I left a message with general questions the other day and they got back to me in less than a business day. Might not hurt to go through your application again, see if anything was wrong.
next step is an appeal. If there is some sort of error, appealing is much more successful if you can prove something was wrong on the app.
@chocstraw I triple checked with myself and had my counselor at my cc look over the applications b4 submitting that I met all TAG reqs, this makes no sense. I plan on calling them tmmrw.
Congratulations to all the ones who got accepted! I am unfortunately still pending but I think I know why because I got an email last week from UC about explaining my gap on my first year of college after high school so I had to submit a response. It might take awhile for me to get that processed probably.

just sent an email to head of admissions and will be calling tmmrw. This is crazy! I TAGd with a 3.84, and even went over my application with an actual ucsb admisisons counselor to make sure my TAG was set before submitiing. The only course im missing for my major (econ/accouting) is accounting 1a/b which is NOT a requirment for TAG. I checked assist this morning and its still not a req, never was…
@Skepta Omg that is so messed up, you totally deserved to get in! I would fight for it!!!
