UCSB Fall 2018 Transfer Thread (Including TAG)

Congrats to everyone that got accepted!

I’m a bit paranoid that I may be rejected because I didn’t finish my IGETC(need a lab science and then I’ll be done).
Does anybody know if the lack of GE completion is a basis for rejection?

@mantisaurus IGETC is not required for TAG admissions and regular admission

@mantisaurus I have a lab in progress for IGETC and got accepted

I just found out I’m admitted to Santa Barbara on Easter! Wow.

I honestly don’t know what made me check that portal today but I was so shocked to see that “You’re Admitted!”

Major: Communication.
Transfer GPA is 3.9 something
No TAP/TAG, or anything like that.
IGETC complete along with lower division major courses.
CCC in Los Angeles

So SB is officially the first UC response I’ve recieved. Hopefully this good omen continues with Berkeley, Los Angeles, and Davis.

Congrats to everyone else who got in!

for TAG do they care about how many units you take per quarter? I called admissions a while back and the person I called said it does not matter, but do they require that you take a certain number of classes per quarter for TAG? Although I met all unit reqs 90 overall and 45 b4 applying, the amount units/classes I took each quarter varied

@Skepta the number of classes you take per quarter/semester does not matter. the only rule regarding unit count is as follows: complete 45 quarter units before tag submission & complete the last 45 quarter units after tag submission which will equate to the minimum 90 units required for transfer.
here is a link that summarizes the ucsb tag rules (i hope it helps!): http://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/docs/default-source/PDFs/ucsb-tag-fall-2018.pdf?sfvrsn=10

@matchamilktea in my case I finished 60 quarter units before applying to TAG and will be done with 35 quarter units by this spring ( So 35 units after applying to TAG). So would having less than 45 units after applying be a problem? I’m still gonna be over the 90 unit req, it’s just that in my case the units weren’t an even split of 45 before TAG and 45 after.

@Skepta macro and micro econ are major prep requirements. They have to be finished by the spring

@Skepta it means when u submit the tag you need to have COMPLETED at least 30 semester units, you could have finished the next 30 in the fall2017/spring2018. If u don’t have atleast 60 by spring 2018, then you don’t qualify.

@kenzzzzzzz yea I have all major reqs and calc reqs completeed before applying plus over 30 semester units before applying and I’ll have over 60 semester units by the end of this spring

@Skepta are they all transferable units?

@kenzzzzzzz yea they are, I checked on assist

@Skepta hmmmm I’m not sure then. You said you won’t have econ finished until the summer?

if a class from my cc is not listed on assist, does it mean its non-transferrable or just that its not equivalent to anything at that UC?

@kenzzzzzzz no I have both econ 1 and 2 finished already

hi

@Skepta I would think non transferable, on your cc website you can see which classes are transferable that you’ve taken. I’m an econ major also, and i had econ 1 &2 and calc finished and 60+ transferable units completed and got accepted. Are you sure you have exactly all of that? I’m thinking maybe you didn’t have 60 transferable units if you said you had the major prep completed

@Skepta hey, I’m not sure if you can PM on College confidential, but I can give you my email if you want to chat and can’t PM on here. I can give you all my class info since we both have around the same GPA and are the exact same major. I totally feel for you and would love to help you out with whatever info you need.

Hey everyone! On the terms and conditions, I noticed it says, “No transcripts may indicate dismissal, probation, or other restrictions.” My first few semesters at CC I was on academic probation for goofing off, however, I since brought my overall GPA up to a 3.8 and had the “progress probation” removed before applying to transfer. The wording is confusing, I’m not sure if it’s referring to the present or if any past notation of academic probation/DQ on a transcript will cause issues. I also indicated and used my turn around in CC as a strength in my essay and I believe they even ask if you have ever been on Probation on the application, which makes me more confused! Hope you guys can help, thanks!

@francescap did you get in through tag?

@rainingliquid27 I think they mean nothing now. But, you can call the school to ask if you’d like.
