UCSB Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@epoxy22 Same here lol. Did you TAG for UCSB?

So I visited the campus yesterday for the first time… so much more exciting now!

I bet it’s beautiful! I only passed by once when the Amtrak made a stop there but I didn’t get to explore. I will definitely make a trip there if I’m admitted.

I’ve been twice, it’s so gorgeous.

i have 2 friends who go to ucsb and based solely on their snaps and instagram posts it seems like a beautiful campus :open_mouth: i wanna take a trip up there so bad

Not Admitted
Major: Pre-Economics
GPA: 3.96
Major Pre-Reqs: All done (w/4.0)
Sucks, but may be due to transferring from another 4 year instead of a CCC.
Anyone have a similar outcome or know of someone who has?

@mesutozil wow that’s incredibly shocking. Are you out of state?

@sleepypolarbear @mesutozil UCs mainly accept from 2-year California community colleges first, then other California colleges, then OOS – so maybe that’s why – your stats are great though!

@mesutozil why didn’t you go to a ccc if you wanted to transfer? Community colleges get priority

Nevermind i was admitted there was a mistake!!

First time posting, sorry for any informalities!

ADMITTED!
Was notified on 3/19 around 2:50pm

CCC Transfer
Major: Pre-psychological & brain sciences
GPA: 3.47
IGETC: Done by spring
Prereqs: Missing a few (which is why I’m so shocked about being accepted)
TAG: no, UCD
Applied: CSUEB, CSUC, CSUS, UCD, UCSB, UCSC

My stats are not the most impressive and I applied to ucsb on a complete wimb and absolutely shocked (and grateful) that I got in because it quickly shot to one my top choices after admittance. I genuinely think it was my essays that got me in! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!!

@AndrewH90 Yeah your stats are great, congrats!

@starryyap @epoxy22 I applied to film and media studies, and I got the same emails as well! My portal also shows decision pending

Are there any psychological and brain science majors here still have pending decisions? I’m starting to worry because I’m seeing a lot of psych majors get accepted or get decisions and considering its a popular major it makes sense it got released the first wave. My gpa is a 3.96 so I was pretty confident I would get in but not really anymore because I wasn’t in the first batch.

@randomtransfer Same!! I got in with a 3.24 and not the best stats, but I think I wrote some pretty strong essays. I’m a pre-psychological and brain sciences major and I’m missing a lot of the pre-reqs too. Only thing I’m worried about is I’m going to have to take a class this summer that I said I was taking this spring but I dropped.

I honestly wasn’t that high on ucsb when I applied, but now that I’m admitted I’m really stoked because it’s a great option. I sort of applied to a few reach schools and I was really expecting to get into santa cruz and that I would end up going there if I didn’t get in anywhere else. I’m still going to apply to a few more schools, I’m hoping I get into Washington that’s probably my top school.

@npound They’re still not done releasing decisions. Last year psych majors were being notified throughout the different release dates. Don’t worry!

@AndrewH90 I was rejected too and am still confused. If I may ask, how did you find that there was a mistake? Gpa: 4.00.

60+ units, IGETC & all prerequisites done by spring; CCC

Forgot to mention: Honors student, President’s list, work part-time in the last 2 years, some EC’s (no PTK tho, I am too cheap to pay $60 fee lol, well … I know how hard to make money is). Sooo disappointed … sooo discouraging …

Congrats to everyone who got in!!! Good luck to everybody else. Now I have to move on.
