@IBkidonthestreet it is an admissions practice where a university or academic institution rejects or wait-lists highly qualified students on the grounds that such students are bound to be accepted by more prestigious universities or programs.
@kristinpete So you got Cal Grant, Pell Grant, and the Gaucho Health Grant. I know that UCSBs health Grant is more because I think it’s more expensive than the other UCs(don’t quote me). How about Blue and Gold? Is that scholarship that’s 7k called the UCSB Grant?
@vrios No the 7k one says scholarship - not grant.
@epoxy22 I am not sure if the major is impacted. I think that the major might be impacted due to the major changing to “pre-film”. I’m not too sure though. Hopefully the major is not impacted, so you could get in.
@epoxy22 @okurrr I don’t think film is impacted, you can check here: http://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2016/05/selective-capped-majors-at-each-uc/ & here: https://registrar.sa.ucsb.edu/registration-enrollment/registration-enrollment/special-enrollment-programs/uc-students-applying-to-ucsb
Epoxy22, according to: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major the average transfer GPA for film ranges from 3.19-3.63 so you have a great shot at getting in ![]()

TAG: Davis (accepted)
Financial Aid Package: Total Unofficial Grants and Scholarships: $22,644 (UCSB Scholarship: Approx. $14,500). This also includes Health Ins and the Federal Pell Grant.
Does anyone know if the UCSB Scholarship for Transfer Students takes academic performance into account or if it is awarded solely based on financial need as reported in the FAFSA?? I’m curious because there seems to be no equivalent for the Regent’s Scholarship for Transfer students…I’m totally clueless.
@avocadotoasts I think that based on what a rep from UCSB told me, is that the USCB scholarship is based on financial need.
@avocadotoasts Side note: Have you heard about the avocado recall? Listeria has been identified on some California grown avocados. Maybe put something else on your toast this morning… ?
@kristinpete lol, funny place for that but much appreciated. Thank you!
I play soccer so I went to this other university for that. Decided to transfer back to California, so going to a UC was not my goal right out of high school.
I may be regarded as out of state. My university was out of state but I have been a California resident my whole life.
I am finding that out now. It makes sense they would like to place CCC students first since their main intention of attending CC was for UC admission.
May also be because my major was very limited in openings. Sucks, but I hope I get into another UC.
One week till the next batch of decisions guys!!!
Yes finally going to be April !
Counting down the hours and days until April…???
Wait next Monday is more decisions? omg yay
I’m pretty sure it is… I have a GPA for my major above the 75th percentile and I got $0 … only $7,500 option for loans but absolutely nothing else
^^ @vrios95
How do you guys check financial aid? I don’t see it anywhere
