I GOT THE SAME THING. A little upset, I thought I would get something for academics or something for sure
@kristinpete no you were the messenger:’( this is horrible news and my mornings will suck but thanks for saving me from listeria
@KeepItCool log into your portal, and the “check your financial aid status” option will be at the top of the home page (where you would decline or accept the admission offer)
Was anyone else on this thread accepted to UCSB majoring in Communications? My application said “pre-comm” and I’m confused because I have already taken all of the prereqs for my major at OCC
@livburg my sister got in as pre-Comm because there are two courses not articulated at her CCC and she needs to take them at UCSB to fulfill all the reqs. I’m assuming you’re missing the same two if you look on assist.
@Ohm888 Yes I think you’re right. So would that mean it would take you longer to graduate due to not being able to declare the full major?
UCSB does that for pretty much all majors. As an ecology major I will be admitted as pre-biology. It doesn’t mean it will take longer to graduate, you just have to complete a quarter at the school, working on classes towards your major, until you can fully declare.
@tinedancer thank you, that’s actually very helpful to know! Ok, I feel less worried than.
@Livburg Yup! Trust me it stressed me out too, I must’ve asked the admissions counselor a thousand questions about it, but it really doesn’t mean anything dramatic
It’s standard at every UC when there are courses needed at the UC.
Hi! I am trying to get into Comm for 2020, and would love to hear your stats and any tips you had. Thank you so much.

Hey! Are you applying for transfer from a community college?
I was accepted into comm as a transfer. I applied at the spur of the moment and got in. My gpa is 3.64, I completed all of IGETC, and assist only had one class that articulates from my ccc to ucsb. hope that helps.
@lolallama23 Was it for pre-comm major?
yes. i assume once I start taking classes there, it will become comm and not pre comm
I’m pretty set on attending UCSB in the fall and I have been browsing housing options and wondering if anyone else has started looking as well. I want to live in IV, but wouldn’t be opposed to university apartments, what are some advantages or disadvantages of both options?
has anyone gotten their admissions packet in the mail yet?
@UCtransfer951 I don’t have that tab. I only have message, test scores, transcripts, and personal information tabs.
Does anyone here plan on taking summer courses at UCSB? I got my summer registration appointment today but found out they need the 2018-19 FAFSA for summer financial aid so if you’re thinking about doing it, I’d add UCSB to your 18-19 FAFSA just to speed up the process!
