Hey all,
anyone else transferring that’s younger than most juniors? Trying to figure out housing…
Anyone know how long it takes to receive the preliminary financial aid package after being accepted? UCR took about 4 days for me after posting their decision.
I got mine about a week ago and I was accepted on the first day
@Livburg @MarvelDude thanks guys!!

@“Comm.ingforU” I am!! I’m a one year transfer and graduated hs last year so I’m still 18. Honestly probably one of my biggest worries is that I’m gonna have trouble making friends because I am most likely gonna be younger than most transfers.

I really thought I would get in, so I was super shocked, I feel that I was maybe rejected because I am in the progress of doing one more political science class this semester. Who knows really? Anyways, good luck everyone and congrats to those who got in!
I’m still waiting to hear back from UCB and UCSC. Wish me luck
Hey everyone, quick question.
So I was admitted! But I may need to drop with a W for one of my electives I am taking at the moment and switch it with another online course that starts today and is 8 weeks long (just because I need to fill up credits). So would I have to email admissions and let them know of the change so they won’t be shocked when they get my transcripts? If so do you think it will change my acceptance at all?
Yes, email the UC (or UCs). It shouldn’t affect your admission.
My son got a packet today, Admitted!
3.9, Bus econ. He is going up April 13th to tour, hope you do too.
Last time I visited CC UCSB transfer page was 2015, older son was rejected but he got into UCLA do not give up.
Good luck to all.
@npound 19 is not too young, there will be plenty of transfers 20 or 21 which is really in the same age range. And considering we’re all be new and in need of friends, you shouldn’t have too much of a problem!
I just turned 19 last week! @“Comm.ingforU”
@Livburg I had the same problem, and when I called admissions earlier, they said it was fine as long as I still have completed 60 units by spring. However, you should still notify the admission office of changes in your schedule!
@npound When I started community college I had the opposite worry with transferring; that by the time I transferred (I took 3 years) I would be much older than other juniors and wouldn’t be able to make friends. But now I think the differences between an 18 and a 21-year-old are small enough that you won’t even notice it and will easily make friends, I’m 21 and my current friends range in age of 18 and 26
As long as you find people whose company you enjoy, the fact that they’re a couple of years older than you will be an afterthought
im so confused i tagged ucsb for economics, had a 3.9 gpa (one B), and finished all of my igetc but i still didnt get in im not sure what i did wrong or why i didnt get accepted. does anyone have a clue why?
It is hard to tell since we do not know the details of your situation.
You might want to read their TAG condition again to see if you missed
anything.
http://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/docs/default-source/PDFs/ucsb-tag-fall-2019.pdf?sfvrsn=12
Each UC school has slightly different TAG condition.
For example, “5. Complete at least 60 UC-transferable semester units/90 UC-transferable quarter units by the end of spring 2019 for fall 2019 admission, with no more than 18 units in spring 2019 to reach this unit requirement. A maximum of 16 quarter units of AP/IB/A Level exams may be used to meet the total unit requirement for TAG.”
This is for UCSB. On the other hand UCD TAG requires you to be a full time student in spring semester.
Also UCSB Economics TAG has some major related requirement(read 9.).
If you think you meet all the requirements, the only way to know why you did not get accepted is to call
the admission office.
P.S. IGETC is not required for TAG. It will help you once you get into any UC school, but completing IGETC does not mean you have met TAG requirement.
@hoppy1 still even with an invalidated TAG, OP would roll over into regular admission. Perhaps the minimum units of 60 was not reached.
OP should call UCSB and ask.
