UCSB Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@africangirl97 Same situation! I am waiting to hear back from other schools but I have been looking into housing and I like the idea of having my own room in a house

when some of you say that you got a packet, like what is a legit packet? I haven’t gotten anything except a card saying congratulations and like 5 pictures of UCSB. No letter or anything like that

To anyone struggling with housing. Join the UCSB housing group on Facebook, people are posting there every day in search of housemates/roommates. A lot of the offers are lower than the campus housing.

@willowstil thanks!

@Ohm888
I called and it said it was because of my ap score, but the thing is, i have friends who are missing almost 3 major requirements but still got in… but oh well.
And it looks like all the uc colleges accept ap scores for my major except ucsb and ucsd, but lucky they werent my top choices so thats okay, still bummed though.

Thanks for all your help though!

@lizzyyykkk so you aren’t going to appeal?

@Ohm888
The deadline for appeals are due mid-June, Im going to see where I get in first and then depending on that Im either going to appeal or not. But since all the other schools, except ucsd, are fine, hopefully everything turns our okay!

Wait, do UCs actually tell you why you are rejected if you contact them?

@HopefulUC1453
Ive only heard back and called ucsb so i cant speak for the other colleges, but all i said was ‘i got rejectted from ucsb and i was wondering what i did to get rejected’ and then they transferred me to a counselor

UCSB sent out rejects already?

@KeepItCool Yes they’ve sent out rejections, amongst acceptances and waitlists

Hey guys- sorry I haven’t been following this thread. But I am just wondering if it is strange that I haven heard back yet? It just says decision pending. Thanks!

I don’t think that it is strange. I heard that they rolled out admission letters based on majors. So the majors that were most applied to heard about their admission first. I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t worry. People last year were receiving admission at like the end of April

Has nothing to do with ucsb but… where did you take your poppy pic? I’ve been looking for the perfect spot lol @meljg99

@throwaway97385 actually Lake Elsinore was not closed down do to the “trampling” of the poppies. It was closed down because the freeways and streets were packed and causing a lot of traffic. Lake Elsinore is now back open but visitors now must take a $10 dollar trolly ride to prevent traffic. https://www.desertsun.com/story/news/2019/03/19/lake-elsinore-isnt-only-place-see-poppies-other-southern-california-super-bloom-spots/3206866002/
True they should not be trampled though. No need to reply.

@africangirl97 I’d also be interested! Still waiting to hear back from the rest of the UC’s but I’m thinking I’ll end up at SB. I’ve also been looking at the UCSB Housing Facebook page and all of the single rooms are ~$1000 which is just wild & I don’t want to live in transfer housing. So maybe we can all figure something out? I have a few friends in SB keeping me posted on house openings.

I’ll also post my accepted stats in a sec because this site helped me a lot!

Admitted: Cultural Anthropology
Admit Date: April 1
TAG: Yup
GPA: 3.68
IGETC: Done
Prereqs: Done
Transferring from Pasadena City College

Accepted: UCSB, Cal State LA, CSULB,
Still waiting: UCLA, UCSD, Berkeley
Rejected: SDSU (what in tarnation)

Good luck to anyone still waiting! Releasing the decisions in flights is dumb and stressful.

I’m in the exact same boat as you, nice to know it’s not just me lol

@DiamondCalmDown I went to Antelope Valley! I went on a Monday last week and there were not that many people on the trails!

Is anyone going to the orientation on the 13th?
