Was accepted today - checked my portal at around 6:30 PM!
just an observation, but i find it a little odd when people say their own personal statements/essays were really good, it’s subjective… what you might think is a really good essay might be mediocre to an admissions officer… ? i mean i think its a little ridiculous…how do you rate your own essay, or is it a “my life story is soOo extraordinary” thing?

What’s your major? Did you have all prereqs completed?
Just got denied. I don’t understand, I visited in the fall and an admissions counselor told me there was no reason for them not to accept me based on my application. I guess it’s just a numbers game and there unfortunately are not many OOS spots. Best of luck to everyone else.

okay the fact that people are still hearing at 10pm is gonna keep me up, logging in and out of my portal all night… I still havnt heard back from a single school so the need to hear any information is taking over …
@UCSChopefully personally, I had mine reviewed by several individuals who worked in admissions at universities, one being a UC and one being Ivy League. The reason we say they are good is because they are well written and addressed the prompts thoroughly while giving an expressive, in depth representation of ourselves as students and people. At least that is it for me. You don’t have to be so condescending when people feel confident or comfortable in their accomplishments. Especially when several of us who posted that we had great essays already received rejections.
will the last batch be april 30th?? because if so im absolutely done. berkeley and ucla are set to release before then ugh

I might as well share this because it may help some people:
I didn’t receive an email. I just reloaded my portal and the decision updates.
I am FROM California but attend a private school on the east coast. I have a 3.85 GPA but was missing 2 or so prerecs, which is why I didn’t get in.
@ucdochopeful2k19 If i recall correctly UCSB doesn’t read the personal statements.
@willowstill I applied for English and yes all pre reqs were completed. I’m assuming I got denied because I go to OOS 4 year.
@UCSChopefully I say that because I worked on them non stop and used the same ones to get into other schools with a lot less of acceptance rates. You’re right, it is subjective, but it does not take a lot to distinguish good writing from bad writing grammatically and compositionally. Thx u next.
