@kristinpete I know what you mean about party school. Most of the partying takes place in IV which is much closer to campus. If you were to live in UCSB apartments, you would be farther away from the scene. There’s also a lot of police presence during certain events such as Halloween Day and Deltopia. Every school has a party scene. UCLA for sure has one, just look at frat row. There’s no difference except the community and vibe you get at each campus. Follow your gut feeling
I’m 24 going on 25 so I did have the same feeling about being older at a party school but as long as I don’t seek it, there should be no issue

@OhHeyThere69 What are your stats if you don’t mind sharing? I am a CS major who is still pending so I am curious about who is getting in and what not.
IMO there is nothing wrong with being a “party” school as long as the academics are also good. Social offerings are important as can be seen by the fact that so many do not wanna go to UCSD because it is “socially dead” despite the phenomenal academics.
I know UCSB has that reputation but everyone I know who went there was very academically focused. One of my friends graduated a year early. Two people I know who graduated from there are going to grad school (to get a PhD). I consider it to be a work hard/play hard school, not a place where people just party all the time.
Well, time to SIR to Berkeley since UCSB still has me as pending ?
I’m going to make a 30-minute UCSB college decision reaction video where the first 29 minutes are me checking the portal only to see “decision pending.”

I visited the campus today and I asked that very question about the party life on campus. The tour guide was very honest with our group and told us that the school is aware of their reputation but that they are actively trying to get away from the party stigma. Going on, the tour guide said that there are party environments at all of the UC schools as that is natural given the large grouping of 18-21-year-olds. Either way, the school is nationally ranked and still at the top with their research and school admissions.
Yeah, thanks for your input. I do understand that it’s a great, challenging school. I’m just hoping I can get away and find some quiet. I don’t want a party in my apartment every single night…And I don’t want to have to be the old jerk to be complaining every night and ruining their fun because I have work to get done… I know there are parties at every UC and anywhere you live in life…it’s just the frequency of it that matters.
@kristinpete I’ve heard the transfer apartments are actually pretty quiet and they’re close enough to parties (IV/Del playa) where you can walk to them if that’s what you want, but far enough to not have the noise keep you distracted 
Yeah I was worried about that too, but I’ve been reassured by 3 different students there that although parties do occur, you’re able to stay away and stay inside if you so choose.
