UCSB/LMU requirements

I’m a sophomore in high school. My grades this year were 2.0-2.7 & my freshman 2.4-2.8 if I do extremely well (3.7-4.0) this last quarter and all of Junior/Senior (+volunteer/clubs). Will be able to go UCSB or LMU? I also reside CA

UCs don’t use your freshman year for gpa so if you do extremely well junior year and study hard for and do well on the SAT/ACT you COULD make UCSB, however, you really need to buckle down, and maybe ask your school about tutoring programs they may have if you find yourself falling behind at the reporting periods. Also, if you got any D sophomore year TAKE IT OVER on line over the summer on approved UC provider (speak to your counselor about this before school lets out because the school has to approve this). The UCs will completely drop the early grade and use the new grade, if you do. This only works with a D or worse grade, though, you can’t take a C over, so if 2.0 is your worst grade, you will just have to buckle down in what you have left. You might want to take an SAT review course this summer, or buy the review book and start practicing this summer systematically, some every day, most days of the week, to start working on the test score. The College Board web site has a free ‘SAT question of the day’ every day – AT LEAST do that so you can identify which areas you need to study. And take their free online test, and their free ACT test, to see which you do better in (you should take the test you do best in.)

Best of luck. You just have to be serious, from now on.

AS for LMU, my understanding is that it is somewhat easier to get into than UCSB, so the same plan of action would be helpful there, as well.
