UCSB pros and cons?

Admitted for financial mathematics and statistics. I’d appreciate it if someone could give me a rundown of the pros and cons at UCSB with regards to the school as a whole as well as landing internships and a IB/finance job.

Any other majors are welcome too though!

UCSB is a beautiful school! Lots of different groups of people here depending on what you’re into. Super academically oriented people, super party oriented, super adventurous/beachy, etc. The big four recruit at ucsb so if thats what youre looking for theres co-ed frats, clubs, organizations, etc to help you with networking. A big con of ucsb for me was the diversity. Their statistics seem to misrepresent. If you are POC know that you will be surrounded by white people. Ucsb doesn’t really have any racial problems within the community but coming from a predominantly Hispanic community it was a weird transition. Other than that, living by the beach is awesome. Living in IV is a really cool experience, it’s basically a small town full of people your age. Streets are never dead except during breaks and stuff. Lots of people have pets, i have a german shepard mix and we go to the parks and the beach around IV and theres always tons of dogs for him to play with. School is in somewhat walking distance from anywhere you live but biking is a quicker preferred option. People here are pretty good looking too lol

PROS
-isla vista
-nice good lookin people
-the beach
-hiking trails
-3rd ranked UC school
-theres always a party if you know where to find it
-networking is made easier because of all the extracurriculars available
-pretty good Mexican food if you know where to find it

CONS
-diversity lacking
-stem majors are very elitist
-lower division math department professors are usually not the best
-university housing is stupid expensive
-ucsb is in Goleta which is nowhere near downtown SB
-tons of tar in the beaches because of the oil rig
-no Walmart or target
-SB is expensive in general
-drive thru food is hard to find
-off campus housing has the risk of living on a loud street

I agree with the list above. For cons I would add class size. I had two 800 person classes my first year and it was very overwhelming. Most of my classes were also at least 300 people with the exception of my 25 person writing class.
