UCSB RMP (Research Mentorship Program) Interview

For those of you who have completed UCSB RMP, any tips for doing well on the interview? Anything I should keep in mind?

My interview is scheduled for this week, and I’m super nervous…

I wouldn’t be surprised if previous applicants have posted their interview experience on reddit. I would go there first to figure out what sort of questions the interviewer will ask.

Quite a bit of college interview advice should be applicable to summer program interviews, e.g. figure out the general ways you will answer some expected questions, do mock interviews and record yourself, have a few really good questions to ask the interviewer about RMP at the end of your interview, etc.

Hope it went well. Please do share your experience and any tips for preparation

Hey - did you hear back from them yet? How’d it go? How many days after your interview did you get the final decision?

i got accepted! yay! got my final decision just over a week after the interview

Many congratulations!! Wish you the very best in your journey ahead

Thank you!

Hi I’m also wondering about the type of questions on the interview can you expand a little if possible?

Pretty standard interview questions. I got asked questions about my personality traits, why I want to go to this program, and what kind of environment I work best in.

Received acceptance letter just now. I was on waitlist for 2 weeks.

Wowww! Many congratulations

looks like if you are not accepted or waitlisted in a week and a half, you are most likely rejected

Congrats! I guess you will be attending RMP, not SRA.

I submitted march 4, under review march 6th, Is it over :smiling_face_with_tear: :

I just finished my interview! Free free to ask questions

Congrats! So you got accepted into SRA first, then RMP. Do you know if the deposit paid for SRA can be applied to RMP deposit? My daughter got accepted into SRA now. We need to pay the $500 deposit in a few days. Her RMP application is still under review. I’m wondering in case she later get accepted into RMP, do I forfeit the $500 deposit of SRA, or it can be used towards RMP deposit. Thanks.

No refund :frowning:

Thanks for replying. No-refund not good. Well, I’d still like to get into RMP

Hello, how can we ask you questions about the interview directly?
