UCSB SRA (Summer Research Academies) 2024

when did you apply?

also do we get a rejected notification or are we just ignored

I applied in March and my application was officially under review on 3/11. One of my friends got rejected, but the email just informed her to check her status.

when did your friend apply?

My friend also applied within in the same time frame, so around March 11th.

She applied to tracks 4 and 6, but she is also a freshman which hurt her chances.

I’m a sophmore (oos) who applied to tracks 3 and 11, anyone know how competitive those tracks are?

idk applied to the same ones soph oos

3 is definitely competive! Most people around me applied3

are you in cali?

I applied to Track 12: Neuromorphic Computing, however I applied very late on March 16th. How competitive is this track and given that I applied so late, what are the odds I get a spot? I am a sophomore with a 4.0 unweighted GPA. Also, when will I get my admissions email? It’s been over three weeks. Thank you!

your decision should come soon, good luck!! since track 12 is computer science/AI related, it might be pretty competitive… the odds you get a spot are also dependent on your location and other factors so it is kind of hard to say. also, there is not a set criteria that each applicant is evaluated on, since the track instructors are the ones reading the applications to that specific track.

so does oos matter? do professors care if u weren’t from the area?

Have you paid the $700 deposit? I got Email from summer discovery one day after I paid the enrollment deposit.

ive heard that oos is harder and that oos is easier bc they want more diversity, i rlly have no clue which one is true. i think if ur from the bay area thats prob the most competitive

no.

OOS applicant here who knows a bunch of other oos applicants. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation told me that out of the JKCF scholars that were admitted this year apparently a whole bunch of people were rejected or something but I don’t remember 100% of it. Really, idk because I don’t know the exact stats about this whole thing tbh.

It took about a day or two for Summer Discovery to email me after I was accepted.

I’m not sure, also waiting for result. I’m also 4.0 sophmore, I thought my essays were pretty unique so we’ll see. Hope i get in though
