UCSB SRA versus UMass Amherst Research Intensives lab

Son got accepted into both UCSB SRA track and UMass Amherst Research Intensive lab. He needs to decide which one to attend. SRA is a 5-week program where students can work on a research topic that they choose (within a track), and Research Intensive lab is 6 weeks and students work in the research lab on existing research under the guidance of a college student I think.

Does anyone have insights/experience with these two programs, and can help us make a decision between these two?

Resurfacing this question - does anybody have any thoughts? Need to make a decision…

How long did it take for them to reach a decision?
