UCSD Acceptance

ya it was. guess wait list is what i get for being too lazy to sign a freaking piece of paper.

It’s blunt, mean, and true, haha. I’ll be the first to say we didn’t deserve it more than the higher GPA non-TAGgers.

@Random_Monkey: What didn’t you sign?

the tag app thing.

Got into UCLA! but rejected for UCSD (how does that happen?). Guess where I’m going guys!! :D

@Random_Monkey: Did you check TAG on your UCSD app?

no i didn’t. please don’t tell me it was just a little box you checked on your uc app.

@Random_Monkey:

… please tell me you’re joking. The TAG app wasn’t required for UCSD this year. The checkbox is all they cared about. That’s what determines whether or not you were evaluated as a TAG transfer.

You had to have applied for TAG in September, then if it gets approved you can check the TAG box on the application. Just checking the box on the application isn’t enough if you didn’t go through the TAG application process beforehand.

im not joking. When i was applying i applied to UCSD as a joke. Didn’t think it would become my first choice.

Well, there is a lesson to be learned in all of this… just wish i knew what it was.

@thecomfycat: That’s incorrect. UCSD didn’t review TAG apps at all this year, unlike the other UCs. They will be next year, but this year they only used the UC apps to determine TAG eligibility. Trust me, I was first told this by the local UCSD CC rep (she’s an admissions officer who goes around to all the local CCs) and then confirmed it with my admissions officer. UCSD didn’t give a rip about TAG app at all this year, and there was no penalty for not turning one in. Just like last year, all you had to do was check the box on the UC app.

@Random_Monkey: Weren’t you in the group of us last year who didn’t get into UCSD but wanted to? What was your first choice this year? And what are you doing now?

No I wasnt this is my first year applying. Cal:Haas. Right now im texting my friend, looking at this forum, and trying to figure out a good opener for my wait list essay.

that sounds super ridiculous…so one box gives you some kind of priority? ucsd is a joke…

^ seriously.

too bad its a highly rated joke.

@Random_Monkey: Did Cal post decisions yet?

@wahaha123: That’s how it’s always been. The box itself determines how they evaluate you. If you want to be evaluated as a TAG applicant, that’s an entirely different process than being evaluated as a regular applicant. The checkmark itself doesn’t give you any superiority, it simply determines which pile you get put in for evaluation.

ya and i got rejected that’s why im writing this essay for the wait list. haha

Ohh haha. Where else did you apply?

UCLA, CAL, and UCSD.

figured going off last year i was at least guaranteed UCSD. guess not.

Think this wait list thing is worth it? or is it probably just a huge tease?

Dang, that’s rough. What was your GPA?

Wait list is worth a shot. Not like you have anything to lose. If you don’t get in, what are you gonna do for the year?

Ya i know right. ITs a 3.65. Take classes in a different subject area hoping it does not come to that :P.
