@PIANocat haha i need to study for a chem test as well, but i keep checking =(

what is the site to log on to check???

the one I keep checking keeps telling me this after I enter my info:

Please wait while you are directed to the requested application…

and it just stays there…

myapplication.ucsd.edu

Try a different browser.

Dear UCSD, you are preventing me from writing a biology paper due tomorrow morning.

Yeah, most days, it only lets me log on if I use google chrome instead of firefox. Never figured out why…

So I came across a thread that claimed attempting to login to a student/parent UCSD orientation site would give you a clue as to whether or not you had been accepted. The site requires that a user enter their PID and cautions that unathorized access is prohibited. (Isn’t that why its called unauthorized access?) So being that I have a PID, I didn not see the harm in trying to login - but what I got upon logging in was a message saying that my PID has been recorded and will be reported to the administrator for unathorized access. That sounds like the last thing an eagerly waiting transfer applicant wants to hear! Anyony else try this?

^ How could a computer engineering major not be aware that there would be safeguards in place to prevent access to a site by unauthorized individuals and that there would be a mechanism for identifying individuals who attempted to access the site without authorization? Since there was a written warning that unauthorized access is prohibited you will not be able to say you did not know what you were doing was not allowed. Attempts to enter prohibited sites that give information about who might have been accepted or rejected to a university before the information is released publicly is seen as a very serious invasion of applicant’s privacy. You probably have no chance for acceptance at UCSD now and you should hope that this attempted breach is not reported to the other UCs and the CSUs as well.

^I think this is a little much. You make it sound like he was deliberately “hacking” into a secure website to find out if other people got accepted or not, which would totally be an invasion of privacy. This website however, was simply for parents to find out information about their child’s UCSD orientation/admission status by entering an application ID or something similar. It’s also pretty irresponsible of you to make such large accusations, claiming they have no chance of admission now, based on such little information.

I saw that site a while back and put in my UCSD application ID for kicks to see what would happen. I also got the whole “we recorded your PID… etc” message, but I highly doubt they’ll deny admission based solely on that. I imagine, if they do end up finding out who you are based on the ID you entered, you’ll probably get a warning or some sort of other lightweight “disciplinary action” if anything at all.

This is the website being discussed:

https://aventeur.ucsd.edu/public/newparent/

you guys are lucky, good luck.

The parents thing is stupid.

Last year I did it and it took me to my choice of college (Revelle) which is supposedly the “sign” that you got in but I got rejected.

Sweet! I got in yesterday as a transfer. I got in as a IR major with 3.95 GPA and have a TAG.

That might be why you got rejected, lol.

now when I log on I get this message:

Access to myapplication.ucsd.edu has been closed for your application period. You should be using TritonLink at this time.

If you were changing your password, it has been successfully reset for TritonLink tools. It will take about 30 minutes for this change to move to your UCSD e-mail account.

anyone else?!

^ that’s what you get if you input the wrong “period” like Fall 2010, or something like that. Or at least for me that’s what it is.

So no admission update until mid April? Can I go to sleep now??

Accepted! evidently it was two days ago but I didn’t get the email until now.
3.3 GPA International Studies/ Political Science

Congrats everyone!
