each year it gets harder and harder to get into engineering schools. im glad i transfer now because i bet the average gpa for engineering will be like 3.8 in some years.

ohhhhhh okay gotcha, thanks for clearing that up victor!

^^ That’s true, but only for non-impacted majors.

what is it for impacted majors? just curious, if you meet the requirements do they just allow you into the school but not to your major necessarily?

CShizzle77, it is quite normal to feel everyone is overqualified when you visit this website. However, keep in mind that the people on this forum are typically “the most ambitious” of the full applicant pool and only represent a VERY tiny percentage of all applicants.

In your case however, it makes absolutely no difference. Since you have TAG, and as long as you did not apply to an impacted major and have met all of TAGs requirements then it’s as good as you ALREADY been accepted (That’s exactly what the guarantee is for).

what i know is that if you have tag and applied to impacted major, you are first admitted into the school(UCSD), not your major(engineering department, for example). then you compete with TAG and non-TAG applicants altogether for spots in the impacted major. Thus, even if you have TAG, you could be rejected from the impacted major and be placed in the alternate major. This was the reason i gave up completing IGETC and focus on my major pre-reqs. TAG means nothing for impacted major unless you can complete IGETC and finish major pre-reqs at the same time.

@victor that’s really reassuring!

I look at the acceptance stats from these forums and they’re always like:

4.0! IGETC Completed! Pre Reqs Completed! Major GPA: 4.0!

And I just think wow how the hell do I compete that?!?!?!

@Cshizzle77: If you’re applying for an impacted major as both your primary major AND your secondary on the application, TAG is 100% useless to you. This is why TAG specifically states that if you’re applying for an impacted major, your secondary is supposed to be non-impacted.

@ CShizzle77

SERIOUSLY!!! hahaha
well for me,
Human development
GPA:3.2
tag’d

I was worried too, but now that everybody tells me that tag means basically you got in, i’m little relieved, but still… like &#&^#&$(# OMG!LET ME KNOW ALREADY!! loll

^^ That’s right Chanelcoco, you can celebrate already if you wish :)

@passwordis123

Well, nice to see my competition :(

I’m applying as

Mechanical Engineering (grouped with Aerospace, and also impacted), Civil Engineering as alternate
GPA: 3.54
IGETC: Complete, I think I am TAG’d in
Prereqs: Missing 2

passwordis123, I think you’ll get in no problem, even with an impacted major. You have a very solid GPA and I assume you have all your prereqs completed. I am worried as hell because I’m applying to an impacted major with an OK gpa (relative to my major) with missing prereqs. Still no response from UCSD…

^^ UCSD generally does not really care about pre-req completion (especially if you have TAG) as long as you have completed some of the “basic” Math/Physics courses for the major. So if you’re missing something like a Computer Science course you’re probably OK

…but I’m not sure if this is true even for impacted majors. But you’ll still be alright as long as you’re OK with getting your alternate. In other words, even if you don’t get in for ME, you’re definitely in for Structural- which is NOT impacted. (I’m assuming that’s what you meant cause UCSD does not have Civil)

just curious…;
do ucsd usually send out their acceptance letters on saturdays?

March 21st was a Saturday.

march 21st is monday, you mean march 19th?? …

Oh yeah 19th my bad -_-"

Can we keep this an acceptance thread not a chat thread? Everytime i see more pages on here i think people are getting accepted but noooooo

No 10char10

@ello
sorry if i made you feel that way, but seems like many people do have many questions regarding ucsd acceptance, and i just think this website is very helpful when it comes to everybody trying to help eachother with many info.

but i understand how you feel, and i’m waiting too! ![]()
all i know is that many ppl think that this coming sat april 16th will be the day ucsd release their 2nd batch. so hang on!
