Have any Linguistics or Japanese Studies majors here gotten accepted to UCSD yet?

@SDHopeful: ooo that makes sense… thanks for telling me!!

Biochemistry/Biology here, I haven’t heard anything today.

@jyoungs all except for one. It was at a 4-yr school that I transferred from, and since it was an upper level class my cc didn’t offer it.

@smartpants transfer students live at the village, regardless of what college you’re in. [UC San Diego Housing - The Village at Torrey Pines](http://hdh.ucsd.edu/thevillage/)
Don’t decline your admission offer over the college placement! I would try to email an adviser in the college, explaining that you’re a transfer phil major with little room in your schedule for a bunch of math/sci classes. see if you’ll be able to fulfill the requirements in other ways, or if it’s possible to switch colleges (which I know it is but it’s difficult, and an adviser could definitely help kickstart the process)

have any bio majors gotten the changed housing notification?

@BostonBoy: if you mean biological sciences department, my major is Physiology and Neuroscience. I got the housing message “come back on april 27th…” or sth like that but my application is still pending.

Im bio and got the new housing message, my friend is bio and also has the new housing msg.

Will not having been accepted so far increase your chances of getting into the “bad choice” (Revelle, ERC for non science majors) colleges?

my housing message changed too.

Smartpants,

SUCKS TO BE YOU. Revelle has some of the most nonsensical requirements ever. Honestly, if I get into Revelle, I’m probably not gonna go to UCSD and risk having to be in school another year. But with a 4.0, you will get into UCLA (cares about academic achievement) and possibly Cal (cares about applicants being well-balanced) depending on your extracurriculars.

No one wants to be in Revelle, at least no one that knows about the six college system.

Why don’t they just change Revelle’s GE, when it is such a turn-off to so many students?
Hmm, maybe they have it there on purpose, to prevent too many students from SIRing. I bet a lot of TAG applicants with possibly low GPAs/no prereqs are put in Revelle this year to ensure they probably won’t come. Just a theory, but who knows?

I never looked into the colleges before I picked. Oops haha. Whatever, I still havent gotten into SD, and if I do I dont plan on going.

I didn’t really read up on them either. I just knew, from other people, that Revelle is baaaaad for you if you’re not a science major and have not completed many science and math courses. I put it as my last choice. The others I just randomly picked. ERC isn’t that great either and I believe I put it 3rd or 4th.
I don’t plan on going to UCSD either so it won’t matter where they place me.

For science majors Revelle is awesome, I put it down as my first choice.

Revelle emphasis on providing a “Renaissance” education appealed to me which is why I made it my first choice. I think it’s a great idea for individuals to gain knowledge in a broad range of subjects as it allows you to bring ideas, concepts, and different perspectives together.

@Tonio03 … I completely agree with you… I feel like all the people bashing on Revelle are just looking for a easy way out… they’re not in college to learn, they’re there to graduate.

If I don’t get placed into Revelle (assuming I’m accepted), I will likely not attend UCSD. Revelle is designed for science/mathematics/engineering majors – not liberal arts. Therefore, it’s not surprising that many of the GE requirements are satisfied anyway through prerequisite requirements (e.g., three quarters of calculus, etc.).

I’m an anthropology/archaeology major and I would loove to be placed in Revelle.

so most of the econ majors got accepted today huh? bummer…

Have we ruled out the possibility that admissions are based on school placement? Anyone admitted into Revelle yet? (Probably should keep in mind you won’t necessarily be placed into your first choice).
