UCSD Acceptance

My friend in my Political Science got in on the first wave. His stats:
3.3 GPA
Economics major
IGETC will be done and he was TAG’d as well.

@dsbman USC is a great school. If you dont mind me asking, why are you planning
on transferring out of USC?

My application is still pending btw. Grrrrrr!

A 3.01 got in already?? If thats true thats great news for me.

If you look at the thread from last year. Some students didnt find out untill may!

i kno!

but hopefully once Cal comes out, it won’t matter XD

They didn’t find out until May because those were the TAG people that were mistakenly rejected. I doubt they’re going to have that mistake happen again.

its all about ucsd

yea, but i heard the ladies at sd aren’t that fine…nd’ their all “school” oriented, instead of party-oriented…now where’s the fun in that?

why the hell are you going to a school for the parties and the girls? Grow up and stop being shallow. The girls there are fine from what i’ve seen

“school” oriented. it’s a SCHOOL. what do you expect.

if you’re going into college with that mindset, you might as well not go.

I’ve taken a couple classes at UCSD and I can validate some of that. The girls aren’t UCLA/USC hot, that’s for sure.

UCSD is similar to UCI in terms of atmosphere. In other words, there isn’t much.

But, it’s a GREAT school, and if that’s what you’re looking for (I am) than it’s perfect.

Has anyone received a decision on a weekend?

“The girls are school oriented, not party-oriented, what’s the fun in that?”

For real?? How shallow are you?? It’s a school, what do you expect lol
I totally agree with Fenris on that one…

if you’re going into college with that mindset, you might as well not go. if you got in as a freshman, this mentality would have changed for you in your second quarter or so, but you’re transferring in as a junior. get over yourself. my friend said that all the transfers she has met have had the “now or never” mentality as if it’s their last chance. please don’t go to this school if all you’re going to do is party. you will only succeed in taking up spots that we want, both for admissions, and for classes.

for the record, learn how to spell – you shouldn’t be at this school either if you can’t differentiate between their, there, and they’re. you were looking for “and they’re all school oriented”

Lukem35 i feel u man. I spent my first year at UNLV where i became a brother of pi kappa alpha “PIKE”
I like like to party haha. UCSD has alot of good looking girls. Ive been to UCSD a couple times, i really like it.

@fenris

do you think ill get in with a 3.1?

@hellostranger57 – I dislike the environment of LA, and I really just went to USC freshman year because it was the best school I got into by the statistics, not because it was a fit. To live in the nearby suburbs and not have a two-hour round-trip commute, you pretty much have to be at school from 8am-7:30pm, which nobody wants to do. Loved all the movie stuff in LA–went to 1-2 screenings a day oftentimes–but that was about it. When I changed major from Journalism to Communication at USC, it also lost some of its luster because you can find Communication elsewhere… So beyond those inconveniences…

To finish my last year and a half at USC would be $110,000 including the astronomical LA living expenses… at UCSD living at home for two years, all of $25,000 total. In this economic climate, that $85,000 difference is FAR more valuable than the SLIGHTLY better job-placement USC is rumored to have… which I think is only true if you’re looking for a job in LA, which I’m not.

That said, I’ll be fine going back if I don’t get into UCSD. Still, my head’s kinda spinning – my friend who has a 3.1 and no TAG at CC got in and I haven’t heard back. If I don’t in, the policy of favoring CC-applicants is definitely true.

Well i think the guy just wants to have fun at school like much of us do.

learn how to have fun with hot girls and average girls alike. learn how to have fun sober and learn how to have fun buzzed.

no one is relegating “fun” to outside of school – that’s why there are events – but when the focus of your education at a school are girls and fun/partying, then you have a problem.

school is for education first, fun is secondary. There is no reason you can’t have fun during the weekends or even during the weekday. It’s not the priority.

I feel bad for the girls being given this rep, it makes all the guys on this forum look REALLY BAD.

However, “triton eye” goes both ways. UCSD probably also has a rep for unattractive guys lol.

College is a time to have fun man. Yes school always comes first. But you have to have fun also. UCSD has it all. if i get into ucsd, im picking it over davis because i wanna have fun. why not pick a college for that reason. as long as you keep your sh** together.
