[/ul]

Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes

[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): First Generation, Under Represented Minority, Band all of High School
[/ul]
Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Bando, who ranks top in class, with 11 weighted semester by the end of Junior year from AP’s and Community College, involved in sports, community service, and okay written essays
[] Weaknesses: Everything is pretty weak, but everything is pretty strong as well.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Probably for my above average skills in everything. I just try my best.
[/ul]General Comments: If you want to go to UCSD, work hard. Don’t let your grade slip. Stats are not solely what get you in, many people complain about how they were better because of an 8.0 and 2600 on the SAT, if you have minimal/awful/worthless Extracurriculars and Volunteer Service and even Awards/Honors, you CAN get rejected. Focus on everything, never letting your grades and scores suffer. Good Luck ^^

[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] Intended Major: Cellular Biology
[] State (if domestic applicant): Colorado
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: F
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): Noooone.
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My scores? And my EC’s. My essays were a little personal, very emotional, so much that I could hear my own voice coming from them. (:
[] Weaknesses: My grades aren’t the best at my school… Being an out-of-state resident, a low-income student, and an Asian female kinda stacked the odds against me. No sports either!
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m going to UCSD for stem cell research, so I made sure I emphasized that. Mm… see “Strengths.”[/li][/ul]General Comments: Find something you love and dedicate your entire being to it! Kinda cheesy, but if you find the right thing and keep following through, you’ll get there. “Reach for the moon–even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” I def recommend reading Cal Newport’s books, too. They helped me a LOT.

[ *] Weaknesses: SATs (before I start to get ridiculed…)

GENERAL COMMENTS:
Miracles are real! Great thing about UCs is that SATs are not as heavily emphasized as they are in privates. Be yourself. You don’t have to stand out among sixty thousand applicants, but you can stand out among twenty five applicants. Make yourself unique. Everyone will have the same SATs scores and everyone will have the same GPA. It’s your job to make yourself look like a teenager who has a motive and a passion for college, and not look like another typical teenager who has no idea what they want to do.

Rejected. Planning to appeal.
1950 SAT. Lit 660. Chinese 740. French 730.
Top 5% of my school.

Not in the mood to follow the format, sorry, still bummed after reading my decision.
