[ *] Strengths: Math, skipped calc A/B, 36 act score. My essays were good, they talked about being a leader and inspirational, and I started three different clubs.
[ *] Weaknesses: I suppose since I don’t play sports that’s a downside, but that should only matter if someone is exceptionally talented. Low amount of CS.

[ /list][ b]General Comments:[ /b] Good Luck!! SO far everyone from my school who has much lower stats than me has gotten in. I think I was just unlucky, or just below par. My major is getting more and more popular, so admissions into that might have been rough. I will appeal, but I don’t think I will change there minds.

This is a biased thread, no doubt, but what the significant differences between UCSD and San Diego State University. I know that one is a “UC”, but is that really a big deal?

It kind of is due to the fact that it is more prestigious and more well known.
However, it does not guarantee your success because it just all depends on you.
You can still go to a cal state and be successful as well. It just depends on how hard you are going to try and get your head into it

US News & Report college ranking: # 37 and # 164.

More prestigious and more well known because it is a better school?

Yes, you can be successful if you work hard at SDSU. But if you are going to work hard, why not do it in a better school.

KellyBKK: UCSD has more “opportunities” I guess. It’s a bigger research institution, and so undergrads have more of a chance to do some research. The environment is also much more competitive.

SDSU’s profs would teach better, imo because UC profs care more about research than teaching while state universities are more focused on teaching than research.

How well you do depends on you.
