UCSD Class of 2018 Official Decisions Thread

Wait, isn’t UCSD a better school than UCD? I’m just basing off that statement on the selectivity and national rankings but idk. :/

Okay, so I was called about a week ago from UCSD, but I didn’t answer, and I haven’t received any emails from them. But I’ve read that people who got called all got accepted, I don’t have any reason to believe that isn’t true, but I’m still worrying. Any consolation?

what if my health records indicate that I do have TB… (positive, but it hasn’t taken a toll on my actual health… yet)

*edit - my question: would i even see the survey?

@adhanoa96
Soon! Probably Monday they will start releasing decisions because no one here works on Sunday. But I would wait for the email before you start refreshing on my application- if you got a phone call you are admitted, if you got the invite to the overnight program you are admitted.

if you got what ever housing glitch you think you discovered - don’t count on it, if you got the TB test form don’t count on it, if you got not authorized until you accepted our offer of admission don’t count on it. And when I say don’t count on it I mean don’t be so sure to judge whether you have got in or not. Its just a few more days you have been waiting for 4 months what is few more days.

at this rate….with ucsds lack of communication and our blood pressures rising… were just sitting here waiting for an answer thats “coming soon”
idk about you guys but I’m signing off… its been 23 hours and theres been little to no progress

@Korean101 generally, people agree the rankings go in this order (UCSB somewhat equal to UCI) < UCD < UCSD < UCLA < UCB
However, if you get into a school’s honors program, it could make it look like a better offer (because the selectivity is higher for a UCD honors program than for UCSD non-honors program)

@sixthyucsd thank you for actually informing us! :)

@Zanelol: Wait…UCSD has an honors program? o.O

I knew that UCD had one but I didn’t know that UCSD had one…

@sixthyucsd yeah, thanks. I’m really glad I don’t have to pull my hair out waiting for a decision anymore

Hey guys what’s the update on this UCSD fiasco?

@sixthyucsd I’m assuming the results viewed before the site went down are legitimate?

@adhanoa96 This just shows that relentlessly condemning a school because of one’s own impatience actually pays off!

@Korean101 They do and so does UCI (my friend got into their honors program)

@Zanelol: Oh okay. Well, I probably shouldn’t get all hopeful about the honors program when I just consider myself lucky to have gotten into the school itself. XD

But…just out of curiosity, how did your friend find out that he/she got into the UCI honors program? I was admitted to UCI as well but there was no mention of an honors program on the home screen. Does that mean that I’m not in? (Idk why I’m asking, cuz I probably won’t attend UCI since I already got into UCSD, honors or non-honors)

@sixthyucsd so if i didn’t get the call or the invite there’s still hope?

@sixthyucsd great post.

@zanelol
Uc hierarchy is debatable, consensus tends to be
Ucb
ucla
Ucsd
Ucsb/ucd/uci
Ucsc
Ucr
Ucm

Someone asked if anyone has been officially rejected yet and I have. (I was able to see yesterday before it crashed.)

@akpl4485 I agree with your hierarchy except for ucr being better than ucm. I would say they are equal because although it is easier to get into ucm, it is not an established school like ucr so it might be able to jump in the rankings (like UCSD did)

my application just updated to say that the system is down and will update via email when it becomes available

@Joeyx3 Could you tell us if you can see the TB survey once you log into the UCSD website (sorry about not making it in). Here is the link: https://act.ucsd.edu/studentApplicants2/tbchecklist
