UCSD Class of 2018 Official Decisions Thread

The average GPA at UCSD is probably going to jump to 4.2 or 4.25.

ACCEPTED! :)

Major: Physiology & Neuroscience
College: Eleanor Roosevelt
SAT: 2340 (800 CR/ 740 M/ 800 W)
(non-UC) GPA: 3.83/4.45 (uw/w)

I’ve already gotten into UC Berkeley (Regents) and UC Irvine (Honors). Still waiting on UCLA. Good luck, all!

First off, I just want to say thank you to all of you for being so supportive (and funny) these past 24 hours. I just recently found out that I was rejected to UC San Diego, but have been accepted to both UC Davis and Santa Barbara. I attended UC Santa Barbara’s Chancellor’s Reception where they announced that I had been accepted and we were able to talk to a student and professor panel. For those interested in economics or financial mathematics, it was brought to my attention that at UCSB you can graduate with a major in financial mathematics in three years, or double major in financial mathematics and econ and graduate in four years. What I am trying to say is please do not be discouraged if you were rejected by San Diego. There are plenty of schools that do not receive the credit they deserve, particularly UCSB since they are labeled as a “party school,” but still provide exceptional educational opportunities.

D was rejected :
3.88 is 4.25 w
7 AP,s act 29
Undeclared humanities. Oh well univ or oregon is her first choice. Accepted by slo and davis also. Congrats ALL of you kids! We live in san Diego, it’s amazing

@2018dad did uci post all their decisions at once or are they releasing them in batches?

@COLJ485 batches.

Ummm did anyone else get accepted into the Visual Arts: Media major? I feel like I am the only one…
On this thread of course.

Accepted
Weighted GPA: 4.2ish
Unweighted: 3.9ish
SAT: 2090
ACT: 33
SAT2: 680 Physics
Major: Chemical Engineering
College: Muir
Involved in sports, NHS, and other minor clubs in school. A little bit of volunteer work

Accepted Eleanor Roosevelt
Undeclared Science
GPA (uw/w): 3.68/4.02
UC GPA: 4.01
ACT: 34
Fantastic ECs
Great Essays

Wait Listed

ACT Composite: 34
GPA UW: 3.72
GPA W: 4.17
AP: Chemistry (5); US History (4); Biology (3)
----> Courseload this year: AP Stats, AP Psych, College Prep Physics, Robotics, College Prep Gov+Econ, and CP English 12
ECs: Good, but mostly focused on 1-2 major ones: involved leadership positions
Volunteer: Meh
Essays: Fairly good

If I had to guess, I’d say I was wait-listed due to my lack of APs, relatively low UW & W GPA, maybe lack of more ECs since I had a superficial participation in 4 of them, and was only really involved in like 2 of them + no extensive volunteering. I think I had similar stats to others who got in so it could have gone either way (as always).
Congratulations to everyone who got admitted! You worked really hard for it, you should be proud of yourselves! If you didn’t get in, I’m sure you’ll end up a place where you’ll be happy.Where ever you get in, you deserve it, where ever you don’t get in, chances are you worked super hard and deserved to get in there too, but in the end, I’m sure you’ll find your match.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t know a single person who ended up in a college they weren’t happy with, regardless of whether they got rejected from their dream schools or even had to fall and choose one of their safeties. Even if you get rejected from every college and go to a community college, you CAN still be happy. I know people who got rejected to every college, went to community college, and now they’re in places like Stanford and UC Berkeley. Keep your head high and an open mind, and I’m sure you’ll end up happy. Good luck everyone!

Accepted!!

College: Warren

Major: Undeclared ( I applied engineering though, can’t remember if I put second choice undeclared… If I do go in undeclared can I still choose to study engineering easily or will I have to go through some long process?)

Didn’t really think I would get in after I found out 70,000 people applied!!

Congratulations to those who got accepted and Good Luck to all for good news bound to come tomorrow from UCSB.
My son got accepted to undeclared Physical Sciences. His first choice was computer science.
His college is Muir
It is getting to be a very difficult decision as he has gotten Computer Science from UCD and UCI.

Accepted into warren for human biology

SAT: 2000
SAT math 2 740 ush 700
Average EC’s and volunteer work

Congratulations to everyone who got in and for those who didn’t, you’ll definitely end up at the right place

@SD2018Dad it just means that she did not get her major. Same thing happened to my son, she will have to go there and take some lower division classes and prove herself with grades and then transfer into the CS. You can read about it on their website. Not worth the hassle, my personal opinion.

@quidditchcat The UC system is so freakin messed up. How the hec does one get rejected with a 2200? I got wait listed. Screw it man, CAL and UCLA here we come!

Need help making a decision: UCSC or UCSD for astrophysics/astronomy? UCSC is like top 6 in the astronomy/astrophysics department and has a contract with NASA :-/ but UCSD has a better reputation overall

I realized I made a typo. My score was 2220. But my GPA, ugh.
Well, now I’m going to be dreading/looking forward to the next week and a few days when Cal and UCLA come out.
