I agree with @chubii . My parents’ yearly income is 24k and I have low SAT scores. My SAT Score was 1410.
I got accepted on Saturday.
WAit… I thought the major didn’t matter in consideration for admittance. because i applied to cognitive sciences also but that’s just because i didn’t really know what I wanted to choose. Will me picking such an impacted major be of that much significance that I would have a slightly lower chance of getting in?
@Mxt067 congrats! What was your GPA?!
@Hannahkim No, it doesn’t affect your admissions, but you may not get that major.
I gave up on UCSD lol
oh thank god
I had a GPA of 4.2 Thanks! @JohnM2020
I guess I got accepted because I attend a pilot school. My school consists of 400 students. My graduating class is made up of 71 students. I’m the number one senior in my school because there is less competition.
.
Ok…My family is upper middle class and we are definitely not wealthy enough to be able to comfortably pay for tuition fees. So its not true that only people with high income get in. They obviously look at other things along with income, such as achievements, ethnicity, personality, etc.
Leaving this here for next years class: Not sure if this has been proven or disproven but I saw that I had a generated email before decisions came out and got in. Good luck to everyone still waiting… I can only imagine how nerve wracking it can be
@rapperfrog14 and future class: I did not have a generated email in the off-campus housing page, and I was admitted. Also, many student on this forum had the email and have yet to hear back from UCSD… (praying for you March 30’ed kids =(( ) so i don’t think the email was any hint…
It is still most definetly rude. UCs use holistic review, meaning that aside form their stats, they had something that made the UCs want to accept them. They worked hard to get in and you saying that is was likely only because of their income dismisses their accomplishments. I am no where near wealthy and need a lot of aid to attend but I got in, even with average stats. Maybe their essays were phenomenal, maybe they had great ECs, and maybe they aren’t as well off as you think they are. For all you know, their parents could be struggling o pay the mortgage or have lost their jobs. You have no right to asses why or how they got in. My point is that it isn’t ok to put someone down out of jealousy when, in reality, they had to put in just as much effort as you did.
@rapperfrog14 When did you get your acceptance?
I guess it’s disproven then haha. Thanks
Got it on the 12th
We should just calm down and wait for the next batch to come. I have a feeling more of us will know by friday which is super nerve-wracking because i’m already stressed out about ucla.
Any Uchicago applicants here? Feel free to join me in freaking out about decisions!
omg @rapperfrog14 I applied to uchicago as well but I’m honestly not sure when decisions are supposed to come out. do you know?
