I was admitted to UCSD during the first wave of admissions, but hven’t yet received an admit packet. We live in the Bay Area, is this normal?
@missfretsalot Maybe they changed their minds about admitting you.
@missfretsalot I was admitted to UCSD as well, but haven’t received an admit packet. I also live in the Bay Area. I think this is normal.
@Salutation I live in Oakland, and I got my packet about a week after acceptances were posted
@aw3se4dr5 Now I’m starting to get concerned. My friend lives in Silicon Valley, and he still didn’t get his acceptance packet either.
@missfretsalot and @Salutation: I live in San Diego and got my admit packet a few days after acceptances were posted. I would call UCSD to followup even if its only for your peace of mind.
Hi Guys, I’m a Physics major but can’t decide between the two. I’m an international student so I can’t go visit the campuses to see which one I like better. But any particular reason UCSD>UCSB for physics?
@CG6475 UCSD blows SB out of the water in stem… Many would argue that UCSD is better than UCLA at stem.
@IBGuy101 nobody would argue that bro. Smh.
@pleaseacceptme99 Your comment made me LOL.
@CG6475 @IBGuy101 @pleaseacceptme99 as a whole, UCSD has stronger STEM programs than SB, but UCSB has a really strong physics department (one of the nation’s best for advanced research).
Similarly, as a whole, UCLA has stronger programs than UCSD, but I’d say almost 50% of UCSD’s STEM programs are better regarded than their UCLA counterparts. I don’t know that UCSD is better but it’s an argument worth having. UCSD also drives a stronger local research/technology sector than UCLA does.
@DoctorP tbh, would not be worth having.
@pleaseacceptme99 Many previous Dean’s at UCs say that UCSD has a good number of stem programs that are stronger than UCLA’s (even engineering program). Given that as a whole, UCLA is still a bit stronger, take into consideration that UCSD is rapidly expanding and improving every year. Give it a few years and it will be a better argument to have.
is anyone else undeclared physical sciences but hoping to do engineering? I got into sd, but im not sure I will go because I wanna do engineering and it is a risk to try and transfer after my first year. I know at triton day, a parent asked a savage question about this. Any tips?
@ikim16 I heard it’s definitely possible, but you gotta keep you’re gpa up and go super tryhard fresh and sophomore years.
@pleaseacceptme99 Please do not spew out pointless opinions without supporting them with facts. UCLA is arts/humanities driven UCSD is the sciences and STEM.
I agree with @IBGuy101 about the how the schools are driven.
@IBGuy101 whatever makes you feel better.
I recall you being so eager to go to UCLA a month ago before you got rejected.
I will no longer be posting here.
Goodbye.
Can’t believe how some people can think that they are so superior just because they were lucky and got into a “higher ranked” UC.
@pleaseacceptme99 Same can be said to you being rejected from UCSD. With a 3.8 weighted UC GPA you definitely got lucky with UCLA. Cheers boo.
@IBGuy101 I don’t think I’m superior at all, I didn’t get into SD I know I’m lucky and grateful for UCLA. That same luck got me into Stanford too btw.
All I’m saying is a month ago you were all about UCLA being the best and now you flip-flop and are trying to say UCSD is better. What changed ?
Don’t be donwplaying UCLA now just because you didn’t get in.
It’s not about superiority it’s just annoying to see people talk down a school they were dying to get into.
Not once did I say I was superior to anyone! Check your facts son.
