UCSD Class of 2021 Discussion/Decisions

@actuallysad, I haven’t seen anyone say that they were from LA County and invited to the VIP tour. I think one or two people said they were from Orange County. I think all the others were from SD County.

Have people gotten into UCSD with Regents/Chancellor’s scholarships and NOT been invited on the tour or gotten a call?

@emli8100 …why bother… be happy with harvard likely letter… B-)

Oh my goodness @emli8100! Congratulations on the Harvard likely letter! :-bd

@USUG21 I want to stay in-state so does anyone know the answer to my question? :slight_smile:

@emli8100 I think so. In the 2020 thread there were people that discovered Regents/Chancellor’s on their financial aid award after the main decisions rolled out.

One person in our VIP tour was from Pomona, which is in LA county. Otherwise, the rest were OC and San Diego.

So nobody received a call this week?. It was only people that were invited to the VIP tour that were accepted. What happened to the feb 28th to March 5th early calling campaign, posted earlier on the thread?

@longwait2 We expected there to be an early calling campaign as there have been in years prior. A few posters on this thread reported being called, but not many. I have a few ideas:

  1. Not many UCSD hopefuls are on CC this year, which would explain the lack of posts regarding calls.
  2. UCSD may have switched to calling far less people this year.

Who knows? At least we know are decisions could be here in just a few short days.

@longwait2 That’s what I’m really confused about as well. It did say on the posted link that the Faculty Calling Campaign was from 2/28 - 3/5…

@poliscihopeful7 Do you think it will be this Friday? I was talking to a CC poster on here who said they called UCSD… A student who picked up the phone said that decisions would not be out till the end of the month, and to not bother checking portals this week. I really hope the student who said that was wrong… :((

@wormholes If it’s not this Friday I’ll spontaneously combust

@emli8100 Seriously though!

Notice how the days seem to be getting longer how we get close to the moving D day?
UCSD is the most secretive about its admission rollout schedule.

@longwait2 so are the other uc’s lol, do you know when davis and la are coming out?

@wormholes UCSD isn’t the most helpful for giving out dates:

I really wish UCSD did what Berkeley does with releasing the decision date way ahead of time because at least then we’ll be able to mentally prepare ourselves for the decision… I’m hoping for this Friday, but it technically could be next week because the early calling campaign ends tomorrow, and if they want to release it the following week, March 13-17 would be the following week technically. Hopefully it’s just the admissions office trying to be overly generous with their time frame though.

Maybe the student was talking about the deadline for UCSD sending out results? Every year they say they’ll release decisions by March 31st (i.e. the end of the month…). Either that or decisions really are coming out later.

@yuccatree Yeah I don’t know why they can’t just give us a date. I’m really confused at this point…like they said the calling campaign was from 2/28 - 3/5 but no one on CC has reported getting a call yet? Either CC isn’t representative of the UCSD applicant pool (which is unlikely), or the calling campaign hasn’t started yet.

so are they not doing the calling campaign or what…

@wormholes It is strange, the more I think about it… What’s even stranger is that the few that were called had the VIP tour and were all close to each other, but in the past week or so, nobody has heard anything else. In past years it was a pretty steady stream of phone calls, not all at once… I almost think that the extra applicants might be slowing them down; the jump is from 78,056 last year to 84,198 this year. However, for the class of 2019 UCSD had 73,356 applicants and the decisions were still released around the same time for both the class of 2019 and the class of 2020… I guess we’re just going to have to wait and see.

I also heard that everything could be delayed by a week possibly because there are five fridays in March this year instead of four? So who knows…

basically none of the UCs give definitive days and people just go off of last years dates to make a guess,
which is so nerve-wracking!!! I’ve been so nervous since March began T^T
