@uclahopefull Without going into too much detail, do you mind sharing if you had any special circumstances that you overcame that maybe helped your app read better? I have pretty similar stats to you (1920SAT 4.07UCGPA) and I was just wondering my chances in relation to you since you pretty much got in already! Thanks!(:
hey sorry i know this was just a myth but regarding the housing thing, have anyone who had the email but end up being rejected? im just curious thanks!
Have we determined for sure that not getting the invite does not automatically mean you’re rejected? I’m worried now
^I guess what I’m asking is if these invites are for California students only? I know that last year they were, but I was wondering if there are out-of-state receptions this year? And if there are, does not getting invited to one = a rejection?
I havent got any invite email and Im fromm Turkey!! My stats are good
I’m assuming these reception invites are for in-state applicants only.
@dancingsloth I think what makes my app read well is that I have an obvious passion that wasn’t flaunted. All my ECs and half my essays demonstrated a passion for political science. Additionally, I place in the top of my class. A 4.04 UC GPA is considered really good at my school since we only offer a limited number of honors and no APs.
@nervous17yearold No, don’t worry at all! Not everyone that gets in gets one. Last year there was someone that got a phone call (meaning they were competitive) and heard of no reception. If they didn’t get an invitation, a decent amount of those accepted probably don’t get it. Not getting a phone call is also nothing to worry about, since it only goes to the top 30% of those accepted. A lot of people in this thread haven’t heard anything from UCSD, so remain hopeful!
@helloucla844 Don’t worry as well! OOS/International students will not get the invite regardless of if they are accepted or not. You only get invited if you are local to certain regions in California.
@yuccatree Do you know if SD is an invite-receiving region?
@wormholes I think so. Last year some invites went out for a reception in SD. I don’t know if they’ll send it out this year, but I would assume it would be pretty likely? Since I haven’t heard anyone talk about it yet, though, maybe they’ll send them out sometime soon. I’ve only heard of people in LA and the IE getting invites. Nobody in the Bay Area or SD yet. (Unless nobody from those regions that got invites have talked about them yet?)
@yuccatree Ahh ok! Thanks I’m so scared…literally can’t even focus in school.
@wormholes Same here… The suspense is killing me because the decisions are so close, yet so far away…
@yuccatree Ahh it’ll be here before we know it!!! I just hope they don’t pull a 2016 on us and that they just release all the decisions in one wave!
@wormholes I wouldn’t be surprised if they did waves, unfortunately. It seems they held back on releasing rejections and waitlists last year, and only released acceptances on the first day.
@poliscihopeful7 Yeah that’s what I meant! That was so cruel…like why not just tell them early on ya know? Do you think they’ll do that again this year?
@wormholes I have no idea! I don’t know.
@poliscihopeful7 Well good luck! I hope we will all get good news come Friday!!!
@wormholes same to you!!
Can anyone chance me UCSD is my dream school too and i’m rlly nervous
