UCSD Class of 2022

Rejected 3.7 unweighted 1310 sat

wait they got 97000 applications and u guys are saying they only accepted 15000? ya thats like 6%

Accepted to Marshall for Neurobiology

@Runningpanda18 , thank you so much for your input.

so does that mean she stays undeclared for the 1st year then decide or does she have to choose a major right away? if so, then what kind of major can she get into right away (eg: Biology).

she’s been accepted to UCI & UCD for bioE, UCSB for Mech. EG (they don’t have bioE). do you think its wise to choose any of them over Undeclared at SD ??

many thanx in advance.

rejected 4.24 weighted 1580 sat. im honestly so crushed lol

@smlsml4444 I have the same question!

S accepted, but to alternate major. And in Sixth, but I don’t remember the particulars of that school but it wasn’t his top choice. Anyone have insights about it?

Accepted for Biochemistry at Warren!!!
asian female, southern california area
4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.44 UC Capped GPA (4.67 without cap)
5.0 gpa during senior year and mid-year now
1380 SAT (kinda low, but i think my essays made up for it?)
lots of EC with 3 leadership positions
Pretty good essays?? (like 8/10 ish maybe?)

Also accepted into UCLA!
I’m so happy!! :))

@avz11ymc4 I have a few friends who are bioE at UCI and they love the program. You are correct that she does stay undeclared for her first year, but she can take any classes she wants. To be entirely honest, the majority of people who aren’t undeclared inevitably switch their majors at least once, so she isn’t alone in trying to get into a major. Pretty much all STEM majors are capped, except a select few like biochem: chem (with a chemistry emphasis), so she would have to go through the same process of “reapplying” at the end of the year.
Again, if she has her heart set on BioE, I would probably pick UCI. However, it ultimately comes down to environmental preferences. Like your daughter, I was accepted into UCI for bioE, and offered scholarships + CHP, but i preferred UCSD’s campus. I love the weather, surrounding area (esp the beaches), community etc. I would definitely recommend touring the campuses if she hasn’t done so already. Another noteworthy thing is that, UCSD has almost an overwhelming amount of opportunities in the field of BioE and that San Diego is the Bioengineering Hub, which is something to consider. If you do end up touring UCSD, I can personally answer some question for you here too

Everyone I know got into ucsd even those who got rejected from UCSC and UC Davis I’m so confused. They had low stats are they accepting everyone?

accepted
-in-state
-econ
-4.25 UC GPA, 3.9 unweighted
-1470 sat

Accepted
In state
Electrical Engineering - Marshall College
UC GPA - 4.6
SAT - 1500 (8/7/8 essay score)
780 on both Math 2 and Physics
Good ecs with lots of leadership, good essays

What time are decisions supposedly coming out? (I’m eastern time and anxious)

What time are decisions supposedly coming out? (I’m eastern time and anxious)

@smlsml4444 oops my bad i realize that’s like 16%. apparently ucsd tends to keep their acceptance rate around 33-35% (based on the data i’ve seen) so i think they might’ve accepted around 30,000 this year. the 3x thing applies to the smaller, less-yield UCs like davis.

@lovespink It’s okay to not get into your top choice of the six colleges. UCSD tries to meet your preferences, but sometimes you end up in your second or third choice. I personally put muir as my first choice and warren as my second, but was sooo glad to be in warren because the GE’s worked better with my major.

They are already out @mastudent2018

Accepted for Undeclared at Revelle, which was first choice. Computer Engineering is my intended major. Any other engineers with Undeclared acceptance? Assume more into to come on assignment of major.

My stats: In state, 4.05 GPA, 35 ACT, work related to intended major, 4 years varsity sports, 4 years robotics. Decent essays.

Waitlisted for Politicial Science Major… but accepted at UCLA.
Stats: 3.97 UW, 4.57 UC GPA, 34 ACT
Kind of strange how the UC’s work.

REA Stanford admit rejected from UCSD but accepted to UCLA . . . oh well
